Fashion icon, feminist icon, Nazi spy.

My four year old received this as a gift for Xmas, in a package with several other books in the series, including one -ironically- about Anne Frank.

For those unaware, Coco Chanel worked as a Nazi spy during World War II. And her vehement antisemitism was well documented. Look it up.

Of all the female icons out there, many in fashion, why lionize Chanel in a children’s book, in a series that also features Anne Frank? Are we just going to pretend she wasn’t an actual Nazi agent?

Historically Inaccurate, Glamorization

This book is concerning as it glosses over some of the more unsavory facts about Coco Chanel. Just because it is a children's book doesn't mean it cannot be accurate about her support of the third reich. Illustrations are beautiful though but I do not think the subject is appropriate for a children's book.

So beautifully made!

I got this last minute as I came across it late one night. I added it to my daughters book filled Easter basket and it was the prefect touch! We love the dark illustrations and story line, I’ve watched cox Chanel’s movie and documentaries so I loved that I could follow along and show my 1 year old this history early on! Can’t wait to own the whole book collection!

Flaws on the book

I like the content but the book itself has some flaws. Bought it as a gift so such a bummer.

True Story of Rags to Riches!

Great story! Coco Chanel grew up in an orphanage, but she didn’t let that stop her. Her vision, determination, and hard work paid off. This story should encourage children that they too can fulfill their dreams!

Cute, but I prefer the full story

Like it, but we have the hardcover version as well, so I was a bit disappointed to see that it’s a condensed version.
