Description

“ XOM-B is an incredible ride from the first paragraph to the last jaw-dropping page... That's the genius of Robinson. He wraps intelligence and questioning in the guise of a sci-fi thriller with a little romance thrown in to boot.” ― Suspense Magazine on XOM-B “With Xom-B, Robinson has achieved a rare feat by successfully telling a rich story that moves at a relentless pace while stopping just long enough to ask profound questions of existence, science, and what it means to be human. A modern Sci-Fi classic.” ― Famous Monsters of Filmland on XOM-B Jeremy Robinson is the author of bestselling thrillers, including Antarktos Rising, The Last Hunter: Descent, The Didymus Contingency and the Jack Sigler Thrillers― Pulse, Instinct and Threshold . His novels have been translated into eight languages. Born in the coastal town of Beverly, Massachusetts, Robinson grew up on a steady diet of science fiction, and started out his creative career as a comic book and comic strip illustrator. He is the chairman and founder of New Hampshire AuthorFest, a non-profit organization promoting and supporting literacy in New Hampshire, where he lives with his wife and three children.

Features & Highlights

  • Freeman is a genius with an uncommon mixture of memory, intelligence and creativity. He lives in a worldwide utopia, but it was not always so. There was a time known as the Grind―when Freeman's people lived as slaves to another race referred to simply as "Master." They were property. But a civil rights movement emerged. Change seemed near, but the Masters refused to bend. Instead, they declared war. And lost. Now, the freed world is threatened by a virus, spread through bites, sweeping through the population. Those infected are propelled to violence, driven to disperse the virus. Uniquely suited to respond to this new threat, Freeman searches for a cure, but instead finds the source―the Masters, intent on reclaiming the world. Freeman must fight for his life, for his friends and for the truth, which is far more complex and dangerous than he ever imagined. Robinson's lightning fast, cutting-edge novels have won over thriller, horror, science-fiction and action/adventure fans alike, and he has received high praise from peers like James Rollins, Jonathan Maberry, and Scott Sigler.

an amalgam of movie plots

Clunky writing, silly story. The writer is just not gifted with prose. The plot is unbelievable. You are initially drawn in a suspenseful situation that turns out to be an amalgam of movie plots: A.I., World War Z, Tomorrowland, etc.

A thrilling apocalyptic adventure

I didn't think zombies were my kind of thing, but the dystopian elements of the back cover description caught my attention, so I decided to give this book a try. And I'm glad I did. This book is a non-stop thrill ride, with high excitement action driving the story forward as it slowly reveals the deeper story hidden beneath all that action. And the ending was as surprising as it was satisfying.

The prologue sets the stage, in a world divided into Masters and servants, with the servants finally rising up and demanding their freedom. When the Masters strike back, the resulting conflict ends with the Masters being eradicated. The story takes place in the society build by the former servants on the ruins of the Masters' world. But when hordes of zombies start converging on the cities, civilization itself seems doomed, unless a remarkable young man named Freedman can find a way to stop it.

This book is hard to put down, with a fast pace that keeps the reader wanting to know what will happen next. But beneath all that action, there are thoughtful elements that raise deep questions about what it means to be alive and what it means to be human. A remarkably well crafted story.

What a Fantastic read! I was pulled from one page to the next!

I have read a LOT of sci-fi over the years and always appreciate a good story with a relatable message - this story rocks!
Regardless of whether you 'believe' in the possibility of the future, there is no denying that the 'capabilities' that are being discovered and developed almost daily exist (see sciencedaily.com).
This book easily bridges the gap from what is, to what could be...and beyond. It takes a different trek from the traditional boy meets girl, but keeps the reader connected to the path.
It's simply a fantastic read, but don't believe me - check it out for yourself...you'll be glad you did!

They're better than we are

The robots are coming. The robots are coming. We humans won't survive, but that's okay. They're better than we are.
