Thriller fans will find these audaciously plotted novels from Robinson enormously satisfying." --Publisher's Weekly As many of my readers know, my personal struggles (which I talk about openly and publicly) sometimes find their way into my novels. Infinite and Alter in particular were pure expressions of the physical and psychological...discomfort I've been experiencing over the past five years. Miah's journey, in The Dark , is yet another parallel, as I've searched for solutions to PTSD and nerve pain that might or might not be connected. Having ruled out a brain tumor, cured Bartonellosis, and tested negative for a litany of other things, there are two remaining theories for my symptoms: an autoimmune disease or...it's all in my head--which honestly feels right. That doesn't mean I'm crazy (though everything else in The Dark might), or that I'm making it up. It means that the Bartonella might have rewired my nervous system so that when I'm exposed to the same emotional stimuli experienced during my illness (stress, anxiety, or fear), I experience the same symptoms as though I'm still sick! Brains are weird. This concept, of neural pathways being rewired when illness and stressful life events overlap, is new to me, and it's very interesting, so I decided to put Miah, in The Dark , through analogous experiences, processing along with him in a way that I think anyone with a chronic illness, PTSD, or a shred of empathy can understand. Does that mean The Dark is an angst-filled whine-fest? Not at all. Miah faces his issues as I attempt to: head-on, with good humor, and with a hope that the future will be better. He even explores some options that I have yet to try. His unique perspective on pain and life makes him the perfect character to follow through the twisted events that unfold in The Dark , mirroring what it's like living with chronic illness, whether that be physical, mental, or both.Hell on Earth? Some people live it, and fight against it, already. Should the actual denizens of the underworld rise up, unleashing their tortures upon humanity, those who have already endured pain--day and night--might be exactly what the world needs. --Jeremy Robinson "Robinson puts his distinctive mark on MICHAEL CRICHTON TERRITORY... One of the best JURASSIC PARK SUCCESSORS." -- Publisher's Weekly - Starred Review "Robinson blends myth, science, and terminal velocity action like NO ONE ELSE." --#1 New York Times bestselling author Scott Sigler "There's nothing timid about Robinson as he DROPS HIS READERS OFF THE CLIFF without a parachute and somehow manages to catch us an INCH OR TWO FROM DOOM." -- New York Times bestselling author Jeff Long "Just when you think 21st-CENTURY AUTHORS have come up with every possible way of destroying the world, ALONG COMES JEREMY ROBINSON." -- New Hampshire Magazine Jeremy Robinson is the New York Times and #1 Audible bestselling author of sixty novels and novellas, including Infinite , NPC , and The Others , as well as the Jack Sigler thriller series and Project Nemesis , the highest selling, original (non-licensed) kaiju novel of all time. He's known for mixing elements of science, history and mythology, which has earned him the #1 spot in Science Fiction and Action-Adventure, and secured him as the top creature feature author. Many of his novels have been adapted into comic books, optioned for film and TV, and translated into fourteen languages. Amazing

"Which begs the question, how am I different from a laser chicken?" (from the book)

I don't normally start reviews with quotes from the book. I don't usually include quotes at all.

But this book surprised me, in a lot of ways, and that line pretty much sums it all up.

It started strong with an interesting character and some intriguing psychology and a really big problem.

And the momentum just kept freaking building.

The second half was an insane ride of twists and turns and character psychology and perfect one-liners that all fit right into place. So little of it was expected (even though I'd guessed a couple of things early on and then the book convinced me that I'd been wrong, only to reveal that it was right). It swung from sci-fi to fantasy with historical religious influences to sci-fi again.

And yet, it all flowed logically.

It got absolutely crazy and very gory. I teared up. I actually laughed aloud.

I honestly don't know how to describe this book without spoiling it.

But you should read it.

Or listen to it, because the audiobook is fantastic.

Fantastic plot & fun characters. My first Jeremy Robinson novel, & I will be reading many more.

Decided to pick up some reading material for vacation. Stumbled across Jeremy Robinson's novel, "The Dark." This is the best book that I've read in quite some time. The plot twists threw me (and made me angry at first), I felt connected with the characters, and I will be starting "Infinite" next.

Important to know: This is listed as Science Fiction. It could easily fit under horror or suspense as well.

Bottom line: If those are your genres, click that buy button today.

An unexpected plot twist..

I couldn’t put this book down! It’s an “end of days” scenario…or is it? The unexpected plot twist comes in Chapter 44. It seems, at the end, that a sequel is inevitable.

Really enjoyed this novel

I am a huge fan of Jemery Robinson, which didn’t sway my judgment. I haven’t liked everything by him but for the most part I do. If you’ve read his past stuff than you’ll like this for sure.
