New York Times
bestselling author Maisey Yates enthralls again when a cowboy returns to Copper Ridge, Oregon, to keep a promise—even if it means losing his heart…
Putting down roots in Copper Ridge was never Alex Donnelly’s intention. But if there’s one thing the ex-military man knows, it’s that life rarely unfolds as expected. If it did, his best friend and brother-in-arms would still be alive. And Alex wouldn’t have inherited a ranch or responsibility for his late comrade’s sister—a woman who, despite her inexperience, can bring tough-as-iron Alex to his knees.Clara Campbell didn’t ask for a hero to ride in and fix her ranch and her life. All she wants is the one thing stubborn, honorable Alex is reluctant to give: a chance to explore their intense chemistry. But Clara has a few lessons to teach him, too…about trusting his heart and his instincts, and letting love take him on the wildest adventure of all.

Hated this book
This book was really disappointing, the female lead is 5 not 22 and the male lead is boring. I read "Slow Burn Cowboy" and "Down Home Cowboy" and enjoyed them both. Was looking forward to this book, hated it.

***Full of Emotion***Loved It ***
Copper Ridge, Oregon has many stories to tell. This one is Alex Donnelly's and Clara Campbell's. Alex has returned home from his deployment overseas. He is home to stay, for now, after watching his best friend, Jason, die in front of him. Should he not make it home Jason left specific instructions for Alex to care for his sister, Clara. Clara is twenty-one and used to being on her own. Both Alex and Clara have lots of baggage. Watching them work their way through it all you, get frustrated many times. They love each other but can't admit it even to themselves. I loved every minute of this story and always hate when a good book has to end and this is one of them.

Well written
I like all the books in this series. Each one can stand on its own but you want to know what happens with all the characters.

Beware of the sex scenes
Not thrilled to much about wording at so called love scenes
Could tone down the wording some.

Two Damaged Hearts, One Surprising Love
Not my favorite Maisey Yates book. While there were many aspects of the story that I liked, I found myself skipping entire pages and being able to easily pick the story back up without really missing anything.
When Clara Campbell's brother is killed in action, her world completely collapses. She stops opening her mail, or answering her phone. She still goes to work, and has developed an obsession with the local coffee barista, but she can't bring herself to tackle much more than that. She survives on a steady diet of Spaghettios and Coke, and started keeping bees, because cattle were beyond her.
Alex Donnelly has no intention of staying in Copper Ridge but when his best friend is killed saving his life, and leaves his sister's care and his ranch in his hands, what else can he do. He commits to staying one year to help Clara get the ranch on its feet. Can he stand being near his brothers that long?
Two people, damaged by their life experiences and, in Alex's case, by the people who should have loved him. Can they find a way to support each other, healing their unseen wounds along the way?
Wild Ride Cowboy is book 9 in the Copper Ridge series, and book 3 dealing with the Donnelly brothers. Catch up on both as you read this.
I received this book free from the publisher, but every opinion here is MINE!

I love Maisey Yate's Copper Ridge series
I love Maisey Yate's Copper Ridge series, and while I haven't read them all, I have enjoyed quite a few and definitely look forward to getting the chance to read them all. Wild Ride Cowboy is Alex Donnelly's story. Alex is one of the four Donnelly brothers who own a ranch together left to them by their grandfather in Copper Ridge. Alex is also a former soldier who lost his best friend while in the war. If that's not bad enough, his best friend left him his ranch and asked him to take care of his little sister, Clara. Well, Clara isn't little at all now, a fact that Alex is acutely aware of. She does need his help, however, and as much as he has procrastenated giving it, Clara has procrastenated dealing with things on her ranch even more. Alex, therefore, mans up and steps in. What he didn't count on was the attraction between them and the things Clara forced him to face about himself and his feelings, as well as his past.
Clara and Alex's story is one of finding love in the midst of pain and learning how to begin again. I enjoyed watching their relationship develop in the midst of the trials and hurts they both had to face. Alex is a stand up hero, in Clara's life as well as in his military career, even if he doesn't believe that. Clara is stronger than she ever thought, and Alex helps her to see that. The romance between Clara and Alex is hot, in that Maisey Yate's style, and their story was both interesting and ejoyable. Definitely check this one out.
