TOUCHING THE SKY
Land of the Lone Star #2
Tracie Peterson

The War Between the States is over and Corpus Christi, Texas is reeling from the consequences. Those who sided with the Confederacy and those who remained faithful to the Union are forging an uneasy peace. But not everyone wants peace.

It didn't help that the Union soldiers are not only very present, but also that some of the Northern troop are African-American. Into this powder keg Laura, from a highly-placed Union family, meets Captain Brandon Reed. She didn't know the man who makes her heart beat faster is searching for those who have gone from Confederates to plain out murderers of the innocent.

Accidentally overhearing things from her sister's intended that frighten her, she goes to Brandon. When danger arises, Laura discovers things from both sides that put a new spin on the matter. Can she trust Brandon is seeking her company for herself alone or is something else afoot all together?

A story of betrayal, faith and redemption.

I have read and loved Tracie's books since her earliest days as an author. She draws the reader into the story with solid plots and believable characters that not only live in her stories, but also in your mind.

Books that revolve around one issue or misunderstanding that could be cleared up in five minutes drive me nuts. Tracie never does that. Her writing is smooth and she never allows the plot to be founded on a single mis-communication. There is complexity and even joy in the writing. Real problems are dealt with and resolved with time, effort, thought and faith.

This is another well-written book that draws the reader into a period of time, into the lives of the characters and into the heart of Christ.
