an okay sequel
"A Love to Last Forever" is the 2nd book in the Brides of Gallatin County series by Tracie Peterson. I found it to be an okay sequel to the first book.
Beth Gallatin has always wanted someone to love, a home, and family. However because of her father's roaming ways, she found her solace in romance novels. But with the passing of her father, Beth finally has the chance to find what she has always wanted. Nick Lassiter has loved Beth ever since she moved to town. Beth never gave a second glance to Nick since she felt their relationship was more brother-sisterly. However, as days go on, Beth begins to think of Nick in a different light. But the unexpected arrival of someone from Nick's past may threaten the bond that they have...
Meh. That's what I have to say about this book. Yes, I enjoyed it and the setting of the story was done well. However, I found most of the characters to be annoying. Lacy is the only character I find remotely interesting. I didn't like Beth complaints about not wanting to move either. Thankfully, that got resolved. However the book then ends rather abrubtly. I know the story will continue in the 3rd book with Lacy's story, but I felt that it was an odd place to stop the book. On the plus side, I found that the mishaps in the book made for a good plot and showed character growth in many of the characters whether it be Beth, Nick, Simon, and even Ellie.
Overall, I found the book to be an okay read. I did enjoy it since I love Tracie Peterson and I would reccommend it if you are a fan. I'm just hoping that Lacy's story in "A Dream to Call my Own" is better. Hopefully it is since she is my favorite character. :)

Good Read but nothing really special
This book continues the story of the Gallatin sisters and this book focus on Beth, the sister with the romantic dreams and wishes. She's an avid reader of dime store novels and seeks to find that storybook romance in her real life. Unfortunately for her, it's not as easy as for her to find true love as it is for the heroines in her books. Beth is the type of character I'm not really too fond of in books. I really don't like heroines that can't make up their minds about what they want. It's ok to be have goals and hope to attain them one day, but I despise wishy-washy folks. I did though enjoy reading about Beth's adventures with her sisters. It's nice to read about families that are still close even when they are adults. The historical bits are fun to read, and I still like reading about how they are running the house as a stop for travelers.
The romance in this book is very much there although slightly rushed. I thought the wedding in this book came rather abruptly, it seemed like it came out of nowhere. Obviously the signs were all there, but I just thought there would be more build up and growth of a relationship. The biggest thing that really bugged me about the book was the fact that the sisters did the whole laudanum trick again, this time on an entire saloon. I honestly cannot believe that they did not learn from their previous time doing this with their now brother-in-law, that this is very dangerous. It's played off for laughs but I just can't believe that they thought this was a smart idea. To be honest the whole book I felt sorta lackluster while reading it. I enjoyed it, as I always do Tracie's books. It was just that with this book, I felt that everything in the story has been written before in other books. There wasn't really anything that stood out to me to make this one special. Perhaps my problem is that since I've read all of Tracie's books, I can easily spot when a storyline gets reused. For a new fan, this won't be a problem and it is a very enjoyable book. Hopefully the third book in the series will be a little better for me.

Wonderlust? Not Beth.
A Love to Last Forever by Tracie Peterson
Reviewed by Dawn Ewing
Beth Gallatin was not bit by wanderlust as her father was. What she wants is simple, to stay put. She's done roaming the ends of the earth and simply wants to make Gallatin House her lifelong home. She has a secret interest in romance novels that add complications to her life. Which of her suiters is "dying of love for her?"
Nick Lassiter is at odds with his emotions. Will he ever succeed in wooing Beth? He struggles for forgiveness. His not so innocent past threatens the slender thread of affection between he and Beth.
This book is impossible to put down. The heart of Montana captivates the readers and compels them to imagine life in 1879. Beth her two sisters, the "girls" at Rafe's, and of course the town bachelors make a wonderful cast that quickly enthrall the reader.
A Love To Last Forever has romance, adventure, hope and intrigue. The outrageous saloon keeper is not the only wild animal that threatens the lives of Nick and Beth. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the third book in the Brides of Gallatin County series.

I enjoyed reading the first book
I enjoyed reading the first book! The other two sisters were a big part of the first book and their antics were hilarious! I wasn't disappointed in how the author developed this second sister's character.

A nice read
I found this book in the clearance section for only a dollar. I do this quite often and sometimes I find good books, sometimes I don't. In this case I found a good book. I didn't know there was a squeal to this book and to be honest I wouldn't of picked it up if I knew there was. After reading the entire book in a matter of days I hardly noticed there was a book before this one to explain Gwen's character. Beth is a lovely person, reminds me of myself. Like I said, it's a great read and a great price. It's hard to beat that!
