The Scorching

I found this book to be hard to get into. I had a hard time believing William Johnstone had anything to do with writing it.

I have read every book from this author. He is a fiction writer but the future seems right in the books he writes. His characters are easy to know and the writer uses easy friendly expressions.

I am a huge fan of Johnstone's thrillers Black Friday, Home Invasion, The Blood of Patriots, The Bleeding Edge, none were a disappointment. The Scorching was not on their level. I consider Johnstone's thrillers to be red meat for Americans with a traditional view point and whoever wrote this story treated this view point almost with contempt. The Protagonists were not fleshed out and were presented as almost card board cut outs. I hate to write a poor review on a Johnstone novel but without accurate feedback they can't do better next time.

The Scorching is the newest Johnstone thriller that is sure to keep readers turning pages until the very end! The plot is that pyroterrorists are wanting to bring death and destruction by setting forest fires all over the world. The group that is in America must be stopped before it is too late. The answer may lie in forming a group of specially trained firefighters. The work is dangerous and deadly as these characters not only have to fight the fire, but they also have to be aware that other folks with deadly intentions are lying in wait for them. The group is formed by Senator Jacob Sensor who appears to be playing both sides of the fence for his sole political gain.
The group’s leader is Cory Cantwell whose background makes him the perfect leader of a fighting force. The various members of his group come from all walks of life and with vast backgrounds of experience. One of the other main members of the group is named Sarah Milano. Her job is to act as the go-between the senator and Cory. However, there is more to Sarah than meets the eye when she is kidnapped without a hope of escape.
The novel is high octane, nonstop action and mystery! The race to stop the evil intent of a radical group never lets up until the very end of the book. I enjoyed the banter among Cory Cantwell’s team and the way they looked out and for each other. I recommend reading and enjoying the newest Johnstone thriller, as it is original and well written.

hard to get intrested in this book

Haven't been this disappointed in a Johnstone book before, but this one was not good at all. The premise of the book was good, with pyroterrorism the theme, but not brought to a full extent in the book. The execution was boring and failed on so many counts. No character development, no good flow, elementary school level dialogue.

The ending was swift to no resolution, or the resolution was half-hearted.

Sorry to give you this low a rating JA. Hope the publishing company is not pressuring you to spill out a book a week/month, as this one seemed rushed through.
