Features & Highlights

  • They watched Danilo Silva for days before they finally grabbed him.  He was living alone, a quiet life on a shady street in a small town in Brazil; a simple life in a modest home, certainly not one of luxury.  Certainly no evidence of the fortune they thought he had stolen.  He was much thinner, and his face had been altered.  He spoke a different language, and spoke it very well. But Danilo had a past with many chapters.  Four years earlier he had been Patrick Lanigan, a young partner in a prominent Biloxi law firm.  He had a pretty wife, a new daughter, and a bright future.  Then one cold winter night Patrick was trapped in a burning car and died a horrible death.  When he was buried his casket held nothing more than his ashes.  From a short distance away, Patrick watched his own burial.  Then he fled.  Six weeks later, a fortune was stolen from his ex-law firm's offshore account.  AndPatrick fled some more. But they found him.

The reason why I read this novel.

It's easy to follow the story. It really arouse your interest. You can understand the technicality with no difficulty. Sometimes challenging, that's why it's rewarding. I enjoyed the book because I'm satisfied!

Lousy ending.

Not what I expected from John. What a wasted evening that culminated in a 2am disappointment. If you're romantically inclined than please pass on this one. Although I don't want to know the ending I'll be sure to check the ratings on Amazon before I buy another Grisham book.

I requested "new". Upon inspection the cassettes I received were obviously used as some had been half way through and others wound to the 2nd side.
So far They play well, but I am only into the 4th cassette. I will keep them if there are no defects.

What a ride! Ending screams for a sequel.

Thank you John Grisham for making my daily commute a lot easier with your wonderful adventures - including "The Partner" which I enjoyed very much. However, the ending, which was probably meant to be a "twist," seemed weak and illogical to me. A sequel is in order - please.

Beats Runaway Jury by amile!

This book moved quickly and was an excellent read. I ususally finish his books in a few hours and this one was'nt any differant. I found that Only in his best intrest that Patrick made the great escape form the "firm" and that he really didi nothing except what many of us wish we could. I was happy and torn between where my sympathy should be . Over all I love the book and will re-read it agian......

One of the best he has to offer!!!

Grisham proves once again that he can do no wrong when it comes to writing legal thrillers, the way the story unfolds keeps you on the edge of your seat.
