Description

Since 1973, Rick has spent about four months a year exploring Europe. His mission: to empower Americans to have European trips that are fun, affordable, and culturally broadening. Rick produces a best-selling guidebook series, a public television series, and a public radio show, and organizes small-group tours that take over 20,000 travelers to Europe annually. He does all of this with the help of a hardworking, well-traveled staff of 100 at Rick Steves' Europe in Edmonds, Washington, near Seattle. When not on the road, Rick is active in his church and with advocacy groups focused on economic justice, drug policy reform, and ending hunger. To recharge, Rick plays piano, relaxes at his family cabin in the Cascade Mountains, and spends time with his partner Trish, son Andy, and daughter Jackie.Connect with Rick:facebook: Rick Stevestwitter: @RickStevesinstagram: ricksteveseurope

It is a must if you travel yon The Netherlands

Touring The Netherlands with Rick as a guide is great. We organize our trip following his instructions and we never regret it.
Even we follow the recommendations of "Uncle Rick" ( this is how we call him) to chose restaurants , because food is not the best Holland has to offer. We would have been lost chosing Indonesian food if it were not for his clear explanations and translations
We stayed five night in Amsterdam and four in Delft, as we recommends, and we enjoyed every minute of it. Delft is a place out of a Cinderella story!

The best europe travel guide

Very good guide and up tp date unlike other travel books. When he says you need to buy tickets in advance you must in order to get in(ie Anne Frank house, Van Gogh Museum, etc). His self guided walks are always very good, but he has you walking farther than you might think. I always rely on his books when I travel to Europe.

Also good information on tickets

This book covered the main attractions in the Netherlands - helped me plan my trip. Also good information on tickets, what the purchase ahead and nice layout of a walking tour of Amsterdam. It includes day trips from Amsterdam as well.

Very handy book!

I can't believe how much I used this book on my recent trip to Amsterdam! Very thorough & easy to follow. It also sparked me to look up things I may not have known to otherwise. Love the maps too.

As always, this travel book was immensely useful. The info about getting a TripKey was spot on. I ordered it online and picked it up at Hertz Car Rental at the airport in Amsterdam.

Tried other guides but always come back to Rick!

Even though I bought an older copy, it was still very useful, especially the map! We found some good surprises all on our own that Steve didn't mention but that is par for the course in the mostly densely populated country in Europe. It's hard to 'catch' everything! Steve gave us some great advice and greatly added to our Amsterdam experience - particular on trips OUT of the most densely *tourist* destination! My advice: go in the off-season - not in August (as we did!). Residents (and other innocents like us) despair at the huge influx of summer visitors!

Good information, waiting for an update

Nice introduction to the country. I used the book for information about Amsterdam. I realize there is a new edition coming out shortly, which would be good. Through no fault of the book, some of the information was out of date, for example, the online-only tickets for the Van Gogh museum.
