Very good book

I found an old paperback copy of this book in my parents' attic as I was cleaning it out. I didn't know the author and the pages were yellowed and dusty. As I like historical fiction, something grabbed my eye and I started to read it. I found I didn't want to put it down. It's very good and I find it interesting how her characters were based on historical figures like Eleanor of Aquitaine and Richard the Lionhearted. It's very well done and one of the best books I have read in a while. It doesn't have happy Hallmark movie endings but neither does real life. I recommend it and will look for other books by Susan Howatch.
