Great start to a new series

Ripped from the headlines!! Fiction imitates life!!

The first book in the Canyon Creek series, My Way to You, is the fictionalized tale of the events the author went through after her home was almost destroyed by fire and then by flood! It's just so good!

Weaving many different 'acts of God', the fire and the terror Parker felt thinking she lost the only home she'd ever known, the flood after the fire that again almost took out her home, her parent's deaths in an accident a few year earlier, there is so much bad happening, she has little room for anything good.

Meeting the public works supervisor, Colin, and finding out there are people who can help keep her home safe for her younger siblings helps, but Parker is really an independent woman. Accepting help doesn't come easy for her.

As her small sphere of 'family' expands to include Colin's family, Erin, the woman who rents her guest house, and even the men working on the project, she comes to understand that taking help that's given freely does not make you dependent on those people, they just want to help lighten your burden.

Great read! I can't wait for the second book in the series.

boring book

-- with all due respect to the author -- I found this book incredibly
slow & boring -- I kept wanting it to end -- there were a few *human*
parts that were special -- but, for the most part - I found it dull

thorought writing about flooding

Really enjoyed this book.....scary about the tremendous flooding in California hills and how a woman refused to lv her threatened home. Very knowlegable about flooding, plumbing, what the govt did to help, and the strength of one woman fighting to save her family home. the side story about her falling in love with the govt man in charge of saving this property was a welcome part of the book. Can certainly recommend the book to men and women....interesting to me and how Calif fights the heavy winter rains and flooding. Really scary.

A nice read to start a series of three.

Volume 1 of this series began the stories of 3 brothers. They are romantic stories with nice story lines. I liked reading all three- a perfect diversion while spending so much time at home this past year. I only gave 4 stars to the first volume because the details of "the fire" got long-winded at times. I gave the other two books in the series 5 stars as they were entertaining and reading them was a pleasant way to pass the time...very enjoyable.

Loved. This.

Catherine Bybee is an automatic must read for me, and this story is a shinning example of why she's become one of my favorite story tellers to read. My Way to You was especially poignant since the events this book were taken straight from the authors life during the wildfires and flooding several years ago.

Parker was enjoying college life, trying to nail down a major and move forward, when her entire world came crushing down around her. With her parents unexpectedly gone, Parker moved back to the family home to take care of her two younger siblings. And now that her youngest brother is heading into his senior year of high school, things are looking up for the family. But when the fires came, everything came crashing down on them. As they're trying to rebuild, Colin Hudson and his crew from the county are hoping to camp on Parkers land to put in measures to prevent flooding during the winter.

With Colin and crew camping out on the Sinclair family property while they work on dams, and other measures to control the water flow, Parker and Colin begin to grow feelings toward one another. He is sweet, funny and extremely caring. And since Parker took on the role of parent to her siblings, he's the first person she's been able to let looks at be herself with.

The path to love between Parker and Colin isn't always easy, but his steady commitment helps the bonds between them continue to grow. I found their story to be so incredibly sweet, but there was plenty of heat in there as well. Loved. It.
