Super Cute Book That Teaches Too!

Another cute book from the Good Night line! My little boys love the brightly colored cover. Inside, kids get to spend a day at the race track and even get to learn what each flag means. Great hardcover book for little ones!

Indestructible Books

I am buying all of these accept for the ones about states. Just a few of them. The books are well made. The colors are wonderful. The stories are adorable and the art work is truly out standing. They are good for young readers too. And they are extremely heavy duty and are almost tare proof. Much nicer than cloth books since they do not wrinkle.

Illustrations look like they were made in MS Paint

We love the "Goodnight World" series. My daughter always asks for them at bedtime. She likes cars, so I thought "Goodnight Race Cars" would be a good one to add to the collection.
I was very disappointed in the low quality of the illustrations. For comparison, I took a photo of illustrations from "Goodnight Planes" to compare (top) versus "Race Cars" (bottom). You can see the drawings of cockpits and people are very different.

I know art is subjective, but I feel that the other Goodnight books we've purchased have much better illustrations, with more detail. From now on I'll check to see the illustrator's name is one I know is good from a previous book in the series. (It seems Adam Gamble and Mark Jasper write them, but illustrations vary. Cooper Kelly is very good and drew Goodnight Planes among other good ones. Joe Veno illustrated this one, Race Cars, and I personally will not buy one of his again.)

Two stars given because the binding and writing are fine.

Not a very good book

I wasn't expecting an award winning novel but as far as children's books go, this one was not great. I feel like the theme was to put something car related on every page but with no real congruity at all. "Oh, we have 3 more pages to fill, let's just put something random about a dirt track car and then jump to NASCAR." Most every other car themed kids book we have at least has a decent flow.

but it's kind of ridiculous how bad this book is

Book has decent illustrations, but the writing is very lackluster. I know it's only a child's book, but it's kind of ridiculous how bad this book is. I can't believe someone makes money off of this book. I would find another car book for your child.
