I Learned A New Lesson
Beth just rereleased Get Out of That Pit for it's 10th anniversary. I had read it before when it was initially released, but decided I could probably stand to read it again. I read a lot of books, around a hundred a year. I don't always remember every detail of them, but I did in this case. I remembered nearly every part of this book. I remembered it so well that I could tell you where I was sitting in my house ten years ago when I read different chapters. That tells you that it had a profound impact on me.
I think this book is full of power. It is desperately needed still, a decade later. It is a current word to the church. I think so many of us in the body of Christ are ill-equipped in handling the misdeeds of others that we unintentionally shame them into a pit. How rare is the hand that acknowledges sin and still offers a hand up.
Now, one thing I love about Beth Moore is that she never wavers of her tireless preaching of the sovereign power of God. She makes no bones about the fact that we are unable to deliver ourselves. Only God can deliver us. She covers the several different ways that we get into pits and the only way we get out. Christ.
I could identify with much of this book. I have been thrown into a pit and I have thrown myself into a pit. I lived there for decades. Recently, I realized that I had been feeling stuck because I spend so much time caring for others that my own body and soul were depleted. It's not the pit that child abuse threw me into or the one I threw myself into repeatedly as a result, but it was something I needed to see. I needed a hand up. I needed more time with my heavenly father. I needed reassurance of His love. A decade after my first reading, I learned a new lesson.

Ready to get out of that pit? Read this...
Beth Moore just released a really good book called, Get Out of That Pit: Straight Talk About God's Deliverance. And it is just perfect for those of us with a lot of baggage we like to tote around with us. Admittedly, this is the first Beth Moore book I've read. And now I can see why so many women name Moore as their favorite author. She's good. She writes in a conversational tone using life experiences relatable to most women. There's not a lot of pop-psychology and Christian-ease language in the book. It's not a typical self-help reader. Rather it's a book that makes you feel like you're sitting down to coffee with a trusted friend, sorting through some issues you've been struggling with. Really - it's that good. Get Out of That Pit is an easy to read book that gets you really thinking about how and why God's people sometimes stay in their own homemade pit of despair when they could be living the life God made them for. It digs pretty deep and helps the reader see a clear path to the better way of abundance and truly living well. I'd give it five out of five stars. I recommend it for women who are ready to get our of their pits.

Practical Deliverance
Get Out Of That Pit is exactly what the title says. This book will help you get out of whatever pit you find yourself in. Beth Moore discusses four different ways we find ourselves in pits, and biblical ways to get out of them.
This is the second book I've read by Beth Moore. The first one was Breaking Free, which was also good.
Beth Moore has a no-nonsense approach and spunky writing style. It's as if she is sitting with you over a cup of coffee. She is a good bible teacher and story teller. She describes her own mistakes with humor, transparency and humility. She understands what it's like to be stuck in a pit or valley, which is why she is passionate about helping others.
If you are going through a difficult time and find yourself stuck, Get Out Of That Pit will inspire, encourage and help you.

even if it put her in a bad or silly light
I was really curious to read this book as I know of Beth Moore but had never actually read one of her books before. I was pleasantly surprised by her forthrightness and humor. She wasn't afraid to tell the whole truth, even if it put her in a bad or silly light. She wanted to make it clear that she'd been through everything she was talking about; she'd been in one pit after another and knew what it was like. She talked about how you know if you're in a pit, because a lot of people don't even realize they're in one. A couple of ways to know if you're in one is if you can't stand up under attack, such as trials, temptations or assaults or if you feel stuck. Another is that you can't see things that once may have been obvious. She also describes ways we get into pits, being thrown in by someone else, such as when tragedy happens, sliding in, so we don't realize it's happening or jumping in, knowing we're making a bad choice but doing it anyway. She talked about the importance of forgiving those who threw us into the pit and how God can ultimately bring good out of the situations, such as God using the incredibly difficult things she and her husband have gone through to minister to others, her being molested as a child and her husband having to watch his older brother burn to death as a child when they were in a fire. She described how to get out of your pit and that God is the true deliverer. People can help, but we shouldn't put them in God's place. We need to cry out, confess and consent. Finally, she explained how we can know when we're finally out of the pit. There's also a week's worth of Scripture prayers at the end of the book for crying out, confessing and consenting each day.
Even though this was a serious topic, this book was full of hope and humor. I really enjoyed Beth's writing style and how it felt like you were just sitting around drinking coffee together with a girlfriend. She used a lot of Scripture and dispensed so much wisdom. I highly recommend this book to anyone, because, after all, you might be in a pit and not even know it!

Get Out of That Pit
This is the first book by Beth Moore that I have read and I was not disappointed. She knows how to take a serious subject (like sin) and find the humor in certain situations without diminishing the seriousness of sin itself.
Beth walked the reader through the ways a person can end up in a pit of sin. She explained that God does not desire for His children to be in a pit of sin and is willing to help His children escape. Beth gives the reader encouragement that God still loves us and provides a way to escape. She opens the readers eyes to the hope that God is offering each and everyone of us.
At the end of the book there are thought provoking questions on each chapter. Making it a good book to do as a weekly ladies study. Also, at the end of the book there are prayers for you to say daily (if you struggle with how to talk to God or not sure where to start).
I really enjoyed Beth's book. Some of the stories she told trying to get her readers to relate to being in a pit of sin I found humorous. I could definitely relate to some of the real life stories she told. The scriptures she gave on how we could get out of our own pit (and we all have been in a pit some time or another whether we want to admit it or not - Romans 3:23) were inspiring and offered hope.
I found this book very helpful and encouraging, some of it serious and some of it humorous, but enjoyable as I read every page. If you feel something amiss in your life and you're not sure why, this book may show you what's wrong and provide hope in God for an escape. If you know you are in a pit and don't want to dwell there this book is for you. If you are in a pit and are not even sure how you got there much less how to get out, Beth will shine a light for you and point you in God's direction. She even has suggestions on how not to get back in that and/or other pits of sin that Satan is setting for you.

Encouraging help with hope and truth
Get Out of That Pit : Straight Talk About God’s Deliverance first released in 2007 and ten years later it made a come back. If you’re wrestling through some gunky mire in life and find it challenging to get out, this book is like receiving a hand of hope pointing you to the source of true Hope.
Whether you call her Mama Beth or Miss Beth or simply Beth Moore, you’ll feel like she’s sitting across the table from you. Throughout the book I could sense her passionate love for all of God’s children. Including me and you. No matter what’s happened or what you’ve done. She encourages eyes of faith to see beyond our circumstances (um, yes, and Amen).
Clearly, Beth is fueled with a desire to see God’s people living in freedom. (double and triple Amen)
Beth talks about life in the pit as a dwelling we become too familiar with, a “shadowy home of the heart, mind and soul”. She shares with vulnerable honesty about the pits her and her husband have both experienced. It’s as if she reaches out and holds your hand when she tells you that no matter where you go, the pit seems to go with you. You might feel stuck, but as Beth says, “Satan can’t make you stay. Ironically, neither will God make you leave. Like it or not, some things are simply up to us.”
Beth’s heart-felt encouragement and numerous biblical references guide the reader through a journey of identification and faith activation. She also makes it clear that while we have active steps to take in experiencing deliverance, our deliverer is God.
The first few chapters identify the pit and several ways we might find ourselves in one of our own. She goes on to point to God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as the solid rock we must decide to stand on and remain faithful to. Even, and especially, in our pits. Her words are relatable and prompt pit-dwellers to make hard choices, which she summarizes in three steps.
Cry out. Confess. Consent.
We must cry out honestly before God if we want to release the pain, hurt, fear, doubt, etc. We must confess our sins honestly so we can experience the forgiveness available to us. Finally, as we consent we put our trust and future in God’s hands.
We also choose to sing a new song and remind ourselves the truths of God as given in His word.
These choices will help individuals do the hard heart work that sees Christians coming out of pits.
As the book title indicates, Beth provides straight talk about deliverance and she does it in a way that invites the reader to experience it with her.

Timely, relevant, life changing!
“I’ve made up my mind. In the light of day of dark of night, find me in Christ.” (p. 167)
It is hard to sum up such a powerful book, but this declaration comes close. Basically, no matter what happens to us, whether we choose to do something headlong or whether someone else hits us upside the head with a bad choice, or even if we make a series of wrong choices that land us in a huge mess, the pit we wind up in is painful and messy. Beth Moore knows about this pit first hand, but she also knows how to find freedom from the pit finally and completely!
I must apologize for being late with this review. Honestly, I’ve been too busy praying, taking notes, underlining and sharing this book with friends to remember my deadline. For that, I am sorry. BUT what I’ve learned from the pages of this book has set a fire within me, just as is has Beth Moore, to shout from the rooftop that IN CHRIST ALONE I AM FREE!!
I may not always be the one placing myself in a pit – sometimes, I’m thrown in. Other times, I do choose pit living. No matter how I get there, I must choose to get out. I’ve been guilty of choosing to stay in a pit for a while, but once I am free, it takes a bit more push to get me back there…and even more push to get me to stay. I think that is the most important lesson I’ve carried from this book – yes, there will be pits, but I don’t have to live there. In fact, if I choose to live there, I’ve no one to blame but myself.
THIS IS A MUST HAVE RESOURCE FOR EVERYONE!! I know this book has been around a few years….ten to be exact….but the life lessons and biblical principles are as timely as they have ever been. Please, read this book! Share it with friends! Pray and ask God to speak to you and transform your life – set you free! I have!! Won’t you join me?

Climb Out of that Pit!
In Get Out of that Pit, Beth Moore has rereleased a new version of one of her most popular books. The book starts out by looking at life inside the pit and how we don’t know how we will ever stand again and how we have lost our vision. She reminded readers about Psalm 40:2 and how this verse stated that Christ will set our feet on a rock and give us a strong foundation to stand on. This book discussed how some of us are thrown into the pit, jump into the pit, and slip into the pit. She shared about she was thrown in a pit when she was molested as a child. She shared about how her breakthrough came when she understood forgiveness and the power behind the concept. Throughout the book, she explored the story of Joseph and how he was thrown into his pit. She also revealed three steps on how to get out of your pit. The book also included the story of her husband, Keith. When Keith was two and a half years old, he was caught in an explosion in his father’s garage. He witnessed his own four year old brother burn to death. He struggled with thoughts about wishing it had been him instead. The book included real stories from people about how they arrived in their pit and this will help readers to connect with other people’s stories.
I would recommend this amazing book to anyone who is ready for a change and they are wanting guidance on how to come out of their pits. A pit can be a death of a loved one, relationship abuse, mental illness, alcoholism, divorce, job lost, rejection, and much more. This book will assist you in discovering the ways in how you can climb out of your pit. It will help you to realize that deliverance is possible and you can be free again. This book also contained prayers that people can pray to assist them in seeking God’s face and guidance in coming out of their pits. The prayers were written in the format of the three steps of coming out of their pits. I also like how she included a helpful discovery guide section that enclosed reflective questions and personal application questions where readers can dig deeper in their quest to get out of their pits.

Not a self-help but a God-help book
"Get Out of That Pit" is a God-help book based on Psalm 40 and other verses that refer to pits. Beth Moore talked about indicators that you're in a pit, the different ways you can get into a pit, how to get out of the pit, how to know that you're out of the pit, and how to stay out of pits. About half of the book was about identifying when you're in a pit (you feel stuck, you feel ineffective against attack, you've lost your vision and creativity) and the ways you can get into one (thrown in, slip in, jump in).
She then talked about three steps to out of a pit (cry out to God, confess any sin and that you need Him, consent to the process and wait upon God as He works in your life). At the back of the book, she included verses that you can speak out loud to yourself for each of these three steps. She also talked about how others might not want you to get out of a pit and that you need to make up your mind to cleave to God and call upon His power for the rest of your life. She used Scripture and told stories to illustrate her points. Overall, I'd recommend this book.

Devoured It
I was very surprised by how fast I devoured this book. I tend to take my time reading Beth Moore's other books, but this one was a different story. This one I couldn't put down. Word after word it was hitting something deep in my soul that I wasn't aware I needed to shed some light on. It's a practical book with great stories. If you are a girly girl you will enjoy her personal stories more, if not you just breeze past it. It's an easy read, and honestly I didn't want to put it down. I loved hearing her passion behind her words. It was also great hearing the desire for the author to see change reflected in your life through scripture. The power of scripture is highlighted throughout the entire book. The author also included some extra tidbits at the end of the book that can be used at a later point. This book is one you can keep, and use later when needed.
