Excellent romantic suspense story

This was my first book by Cynthia Eden and I can't say enough good things about it.

The suspense, throughout the entire book, was terrific. I was hooked from the very beginning and the intensity didn't let up until the end. This experience (unfortunately) doesn't happen for me very often. Most stories will either start out strong and then waver or they just kind of ho-hum along for the most part. Rarely do I encounter stories that reel me in at the start and keep me hooked and totally involved all the way through. This one did!

I loved both main characters. Max and Sam were interesting, well-defined characters that worked very well together as a couple. I had no problem with the way their relationship began. Unconventional, yes, but there were reasons behind Sam's actions. She didn't expect to find her soul mate, so Max took her completely by surprise.

I did suspect who the bad guy was fairly early on, but this didn't detract from my enthusiasm with the story at all. It was very well-written with engaging dialogue and a cast of supporting characters that rounded things out quite nicely. Sometimes supporting characters can wind up overwhelming a story and/or detracting from the presence of the main characters. That wasn't the case here.

As I mentioned, this was my first book by Cynthia Eden, so I did not read the first two books in this series. If you haven't read them, please note that it isn't necessary. This book works just fine as a stand alone.

Love this storyline. Good murder mystery. This author has a good blend of characters, villains and hero's. I like the serial killer storyline and the dedicated men and women who seek justice for victims and sometimes they are able to save someone. Good book

loved this boook as it exposed Samantha Kennedy's weaknesses and the fight she put up to get over what had happened to her when she was kidnapped and tortured. it was what many women have gone thru when they are survivors of horrendous events. told truthfully without making it seem stupid or silly. Love the fact that Max exposed himself also. hated his stepbrother Quinlan. a spoiled rich boy who couldn't accept the strictures placed on his money.
couldn't get a handle on the killer until Quinlan was kidnapped and then it started coming together. had suspicons about the housekeeper/lover but not about the doctor he was a total surprise.
the ending was great justice all the way around

This is the third book in the "Deadly" series and the story of SSD agent Samantha Kennedy and sexy Max Ridgeway.

WOW what a story!!! I didn't think they could get any better but this one just did. I'm kind of flabbergasted to be honest. I enjoyed every nail biting second of it. The story had so many things going on that when you think you've solved the mystery something else comes up and you're back to square one. It was completely amazing! I can't wait to see what else there is for the agents of the SSD.

I love the way Sam has been able to regain her life after the ordeal she suffered in Deadly Fear. She's strong and very capable of doing her job. She only needed to prove that to herself. Her colleagues were always very supportive and you can feel that they have a strong bond beyond their work, they truly care for each other and that was really nice to read. Max was just to die for, not just a hot body but loyal and loving. All that he did for Sam had me swooning and of course as it is expected their chemistry was sparking so much that once they got to it they nearly burned the pages off. I really loved everything in this book and the series as a whole. Beautifully written and very well balanced in every aspect of the story. Give me the next one!!!
