A Cool Classic
Overall this book was a good read. The main plot I liked the most was that they were running from the po po. They always seemed to skrrrrrrt away from the authorities. The main characters won money traveling around the world in 80 days by winning a bet. One thing I didn't like was that although it was full of action by having them run from the po po they should have been caught. That would have created more action when they tried to escape.
Although this book is a classic, since it is school related I am not sure I would recommend it.

Phileas Fogg goes around the world in 80 days.
I think that this book could of used a little more action. The way things start off is kind of slow but later on things get better.I think it is cool how some of the characters they meet along the way make appearances later on in the book I feel like they run into the same sort of problems a couple times, but I think the different ways that they solve them is pretty cool. It kind of seems like Passepartout is more worried than Mr.Fogg the entire book. Over all I think that the book was pretty good.

Lack of action, gloomy character, not my style.
The book Around the World in 80 Days did not capture my attention. I felt like there was a lack of action in the first part before Phileas Fogg and Passepartout left for their journey. Also, I thought that the main character, Phileas Fogg, was somewhat gloomy and boring. However, I did appreciate the fact that he donated his winnings to charity. This type of writing just isn't my style. If it had not been a school assignment, I probably would not have finished it. These are the reasons I gave this book a 3-star rating. -Sophia, age 11

I read this for my Literature class
Around the World in 80 Days was a good book because it had some humorous moments, some suspenseful moments, and some really good descriptive writing moments. I found the part where Phileas Fogg gets punched in the face to be laugh out loud funny. The suspense in the book comes from not knowing whether or not Phileas Fogg will actually make it around the world in 80 days due to all the delays. Finally, the author uses good descriptions. For example, in Chapter 25 Verne writes, "From his exalted position Passepartout observed with much curiousity the wide streets, the low, evenly ranged houes, the Anglo-Saxon Gothic churches, the great docks, the palatial wooden and brick warehouses, the numerous conveyances, omnibuses, horse-cars, and upon the sidewalks, not only Americans and Europeans, but Chinese and Indians." I could picture all of this in my mind. Overall, I would recommend reading the book. - MLC

Enjoyed this book
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This classic is full of action and adventure with many moments of suspense. However, some of the words used in this novel may not be understood by younger readers. Also, the quality of the paper used in this book was not what I prefer. But if you are using this book in a classroom setting and need to annotate, it would be adequate.

Over all it was a book that felt very long but exciting.
In this book, Around the World in 80 days, Mister Fogg [the main character] makes a bet with some friends, to go around the world in 80 days, hence the name. On his adventure, he encounters many challenges and dangers. Although it took a long time to finish the book, there were many moments were I was on the edge of my seat biting my nails hoping he would get through the finish his journey.
