Description

“ A Promise for Miriam is written from the heart with great respect for the details of Amish life. A special treat is finding the setting to be near my home town of Cashton, Wisconsin. Vannetta Chapman's story will take you in and warm your heart as you read this delightful Amish romance novel.”― Kathy Kuderer, proprietor, Village Shops at Down a Country Road “ A Promise for Miriam is an interesting read from beginning to end, with a heart-warming and delightful story of Plain people.”― Nora Knapik, Inn at Lonesome Hollow “I thoroughly enjoyed Vannetta’s look at the Amish of southwestern Wisconsin. Her heroine, Miriam, rings with authenticity. The characters have realistic imperfections and encounter plenty of challenges to keep readers turning the pages. Vannetta’s hero, Gabriel, is multi-dimensional and well-crafted. It was a joy to witness his change of heart. I eagerly look forward to the next installment of the delightful Pebble Creek Amish series.” ―Mary Ellis, author of An Amish Family Reunion “There is never a dull moment in this book. There are intertwining events that keep you guessing at all times. The characters became part of me. Their feelings became mine. I felt their challenges, joys, pains and successes. That is what a good book does for me. It satisfies me in all of these aspects. “I am anxiously and impatiently waiting for the next book!! When you read a book in a day and a half, you know you have found the reading material that you enjoy and that is well written.” ―Karla Hanns, Karla-Hanns-Karla.blogspot.com “Wow! And that still doesn't describe how wonderful A Promise for Miriam turned out to be. Vannetta did an awesome job pulling me into the lives of Miriam, Gabe, and Grace. I lived with them for a whole day―the amount of time it took me to read the book―and loved every minute of it.” ― Ginger Solomon “A well written book that will pull you into reading one more chapter...and one more chapter.” ―Jo Huddleston, johuddleston.com “I like this author, Vannetta Chapman, as she shows the humanness of an Amish community―not just the peculiarities derived from their faith and connecting lifestyle choices. There’s a struggle theme that’s true for all people, not only the Amish.” ― Alan Daugherty , Angelkeep Journals “I found A Promise for Miriam to be a charming story. And, I was honored to be asked to answer many questions Vannetta had about the Amish after she read my first non-fiction book, Amish in Wisconsin. She sought authenticity in her writing, and I offered her my firsthand answers to her questions. I commend her for that honesty and accuracy.”― Richard Lee Dawley, Amish Insight, richarddawley.com Vannetta Chapman writes inspirational fiction full of grace. She has published over one hundred articles in Christian family magazines, receiving more than two dozen awards from Romance Writers of America chapter groups. She discovered her love for the Amish while researching her grandfather’s birthplace of Albion, Pennsylvania. Her novel Falling to Pieces was a 2012 ACFW Carol Award finalist. A Promise for Miriam earned a spot on the June 2012 Christian Retailing Top Ten Fiction list. Chapman was a teacher for 15 years and currently writes full time. A wonderful love story.

I have read all of Vannetta's books so far and this to me is the best one yet.
A beautiful love story but it doesn't all go smooth, a lot of twist & turns but they are what keeps you from putting the book down. Just a reminder that we need to be content where we are in life and let God work out His plans for us.

Miriam is what some call an old maid schoolteacher at 26 yrs. old & she loves what she is doing till a new child in school captures her heart and makes her want for more.

Aden offers Miriam a different life but a better one, all she has to do is marry him. She does care for him but will that be enough to give up the way she was raised?

Gabriel has lost the love of his life and is trying to make a new life for his daughter but he wants to do it on his own. Through a turn of events he has to admit he can't do it without some help from friends.

What happens to these three and the friends and family around them will keep you reading till you finish the book.I did lose sleep but it was worth it.

This is a really great book.I recommend it highly.

A Delightful Read!

I have read several books by author Vannetta Chapman and I have enjoyed them all. A Promise for Miriam did not let me down.

I fell in love with the Characters in this book. Who wouldn't be concerned for Gabe who lost his wife to death 3 years ago. Would he ever get over losing his wife? Could he, would he, be able to move on? His eight year old daughter Grace captured my heart. She is simply adorable. Miriam, the school teacher, has never married but she is content with being single because her students are her life. Will she always be content with teaching? Will she long for a family of her own some day?

My emotions loved this book. I found myself laughing our loud, I found myself worrying, and I found myself shedding a few tears.

This book in my opinion deserves a 5 star rating; one that I will gladly give.

I urge you to buy a copy of this book. I promise you will not be disappointed.

I can't wait to read A Home for Lydia, Book 2 of The Pebble Creek Amish Series.

Love in Pebble Creek

I loved meeting the community of Pebble Creek, Wisconsin. Vannetta Chapman has a knack for drawing such realistic characters - I always feel they are friends I've known for a long time. In this book you'll meet school-teacher Miriam as she welcomes a new student, young Grace Miller. She and her father, Gabe, have moved to the area to start fresh after the death of Grace's mother. Both Millers are crippled by their grief: Grace is literally mute, but Gabe also struggles to express his feelings, and instead, throws himself into rehabbing a run-down farm. He wants to keep to keep his emotional distance from the friendly folks of Pebble Creek, but an emergency shows him his need of friends. I love how each of the characters in this novel develop...they each face their flaws and grow in faith.
The humor and candor on each page weaves these folks right into your heart. I guarantee once you finish this book, you'll be reading the rest of this series and looking for more glimpses of Gabe and Miriam.

Love It!!

I'm reading this book right now and am enjoying every page-I am having a really hard time putting it down, although, I think I might be done with the book by the end of the week! I have been becoming very interested in the Amish and enjoy finding new authors who write about their way of life. A MUST READ!!!!!!
