In the beginning, Zeb Carter

Zeb Carter is a machine, at least in the figurative sense. In the Warrior series by the same author, Zeb has developed a team of people with certain skills. I've read volumes 1 and 10, both very good. This book is early Zeb Carter, before he became the more advanced machine in the Warrior series. And still, he is a machine even this early in his career.

Tasked with rescuing three US soldiers captured in Afghanistan alone and virtually no support, Carter adapts to the locals as he searches for where the soldiers are being held. Having to fight against the entrenched Taliban mentality provides certain challenges as he goes about his mission.

This is a fun read, or at least entertaining. There's not much in the way of characterization other than to demonstrate the title character's dogged determination and sense of justice. The author had sent to his mailing list a picture of the area he had set much of this in. Bleak, no good area. It did help to give a better sense of what a huge challenge was.

Overall, a good read, worthwhile.

Who Betrayed Zeb?

I love any story that is about Zeb Carter and this book did not disappoint. In fact, Zeb Carter books are the only books I pay for--all the other books I read are with my Kindle Unlimited account.

This story takes place in Afghanistan. Zeb goes there undercover to rescue 3 soldiers that is being held as hostages by Atash Mohammed, a Taliban warlord. When I say he goes undercover I mean he goes in different disguises that are so realistic that he is not suspected to be who he really is. His disguises helps him to uncover what he is looking for with the help of a couple of innocent civilians. One of the problems that he runs into is that the Taliban leader knows he is in the area even if he does not know where in the area. So he has a vicious terrorist looking for him and later drug lords too--it can't get much more exciting than that--lots of action! The mystery is not only where are the hostages being held, but also who betrayed Zeb's presence to the Taliban leader?

I will always read any books about Zeb Carter--I found him even better than Jason Bourn!

Zeb Carter. Ty Patterson

Zeb Carter is an extremely dangerous man. He's not afraid of dying. He's on a mission in Taliban controlled areas. Everyone is afraid of the Taliban leader and his minions. They rape, blunder and kill the villagers at random to keep them in check. Carter's mission? To rescue three captured Delta operatives. He's not afraid of the Taliban leader nor his soldiers. All hell is about to break loose.....for the Taliban. Zeb Carter isn't afraid of dying. This is an extremely fast paced action thriller. Enjoyed immensely!

Riveting action packed thriller.

Another action packed thriller from a master author. The action takes place before the Warrior series and after leaving the service. This book filled in some of Zeb Carrier’s background that I thought was needed. These books are making a very rich story of Zeb Cartier. Another good book to start the series if you haven’t read any of the others.

Zeb Carter - King of Zen

What did I like the least? There is nothing to dislike in Ty Patterson's novels. This is Patterson's best yet. Zeb Carter is such a well-developed character, others authors should take note. Zeb Carter is the king of zen. Tough as nails and a pure killer instinct but not lost to to the dark side. He has a handle on his humanity that comes naturally and he is distraught when the innocent are injured. When Zeb Carter needs to go into "dragon" mode, he is Joe Pike on meth!

I recommend this book highly!

An amazing book! The storyline kept me involved from beginning to end.

Zeb is an honorable warrior and a character you can relate to. You understand his thinking, his reasoning, you end up wanting to be a part of the story. This is a character, if he were real, that you would love to meet. He's scary, disciplined and honorable.

I recommend this book highly!
