Bittersweet and Perfect Conclusion.

Spoilers

Made me tear up; even though I knew what was coming. If you've stuck with the series up to this point odds are you do to. Illnesses in manga and anime are invariably fatal, but the characters are all likable and you root for them. Also the characterization of people who are driven, or extremely good at something, and the various ways that they deal with that is well handled. This manga could easily inspire a young kid to develop an interest in classical music, or to become a musician, so I highly recommend it, especially for kids at that early impressionable age. Naoshi Arakawa is to be commended for writing a very good, solid tale, and I can't wait to see what he comes out with next. I will definitely be in line.

The feel train reaches its final destination

As his turn of the piano competition begins, so to does a surgery that may be able to help Kiori join him on the stage again. However things turn out, people will be affected and pent up feelings will be released as their journey reaches its end. Months later, can a letter from a precocious violinist ensure that color and the music will remain in his life and his future?

This series has been almost universally considered one the most emotionally powerful in anime and manga history, even more than Clannad, Angel Beats and Your Name. From its beginning to the final chord, the characters draw you in with their energy, emotions, and personality and the ending leaves it up to the readers (and fan fiction writers) imaginations.

May the music light your way and carry you off.
