Word Press is only for computer geniuses

My poor rating is not just for this book, but for everything to do with Word Press. I've read everything I could get my hands on and, despite college computer classes, Word Press is the most difficult program I've ever used. I have purchased my hosting for 3 years, but had to have help with just naming my site. I even read a book that was 829 pages long. It might as well have been written in Swahili for all the good it did. Word Press is just a very difficult program. I've wasted over $1000 and countless hours of work and worry. I'm going to give my stuff to someone else - if I can find someone I dislike that much!

Not helpful

Thought this book would help me learn Wordpress. It didn't. It is mostly set up for bloggers. Every chapter, she references you to another chapter for more info. You will do way better to just look up various tutorials and youtube videos.

Just Started It!

I had a new role thrust upon me at work, and need to learn about WordPress. I am about 25% into the book, but I am learning a lot. This book is a behemoth of a book, but I expect to learn a lot. I have purchased many Dummies books, but I have recently actually started reading them from cover to cover. They are really good starter books on the subjects. This one is no exception!

HEAFTY BOOK!

I just recently got the book and I am pleasantly surprised. It is not a dinky book. Heafty it is. 828 marked pages to be exact as the book shows in the corners. Looks well organized too. Highly recommended.

Worth it even if you aren’t a total dummy

Really easy to use & understand. I knew a bit about the program but am still glad I bought the book. Great guide

Great reference book

I bought this book for reference only. Have used it many times. However the user needs to be able to understand "tech." This is not a book for those just getting into WordPress or website development.

Assumes you already know how to use WordPress

I found this utterly useless. I didn't actually break down in tears, but the book is written for people who already know how to create a website with Wordpress. It started at a very high level, with casual references (via acronyms) to software (?) or applications (?) I never heard of. I actually created a website some years ago using html, so I am not an idiot. The book 828 pages long--I shudder to think how much more complicated it will get as I read along, not understanding anything. Most of it, I discover flipping through, is telling me how great Wordpress is. Why can't the author tell me step by step how to create and publish a website? Why all the alphabet soup leading nowhere? I just wasted my money. Be advised.

Has no information on Elementor

I made a mistake an assumed that this book would cover Elementor. However it didn't so I probably wasted my money.

Not a Good Book for Beginners

This book is not good for beginners, It gives a lot of information but it speaks directly about only 1 theme instead of giving general information for all themes. It does not take into account that the Reader may not have knowledge of the internal workings of Wordpress. Was not helpful.

Not Basic At All

Not basic at all. Still very complicated and too much time spent on coding.
