Description

"Expect a lot more Wonder Woman fans after a few issues of this book."--USA Today "This is clear storytelling at its best....It's an intriguing concept and easy to grasp. The reader doesn't need to know that much about Wonder Woman because she is, well, Wonder Woman."--The New York Times"It's a different direction for Wonder Woman, but one still steeped in mythology, and I think this is the start of great things from Azzarello and Chiang."--The Onion/A.V. Club"There's actually a lovely balance between being just wordy enough and going mute to let the art do the heavy lifting. And let me tell you, Cliff Chiang's art does said heavy lifting with nary a grunt. He handles suspense, gore, and action all with aplomb. His line-work is loose enough to avoid being static, and yet maintains a confident line."--Ain't It Cool News Brian Azzarello has been writing comics professionally since the mid-1990s. He is the author of JONNY DOUBLE, BATMAN: BROKEN CITY and the Harvey and Eisner Award-winning 100 BULLETS, all created in collaboration with artist Eduardo Risso. The New York Times best-selling author’s other work for DC includes the titles HELLBLAZER and LOVELESS (both with Marcelo Frusin), SUPERMAN: FOR TOMORROW (with Jim Lee), JOKER and LUTHOR (both with Lee Bermejo), SGT. ROCK: BETWEEN HELL AND A HARD PLACE (with Joe Kubert), FILTHY RICH (with Victor Santos), and most recently the all-new ongoing series WONDER WOMAN (with Cliff Chiang). He also wrote the Richard Corben-illustrated graphic novels Cage and Banner for Marvel Comics. Azzarello lives in Chicago with his wife, artist Jill Thompson, and twitters only when he has something to say.

Azzarello's run, part 6 of 6

Collects WW (2011) issues # 30 - 35 and 12 pages of Secret Origins # 6
Cliff Chiang - Art for # 33 - 35
Others - 30 - 32

30-32 The Amazons are back and prepare for war with the First Born. He captures Diana.
33-34 Orion is back. He joins the fight against the First Born's army.
35 The final fight against the First Born.
The secet origin story isn't particularly good, and the book and Azzarello's reputation would have been better off without it.

Perfect

Pretty much every other review here says it: this is an amazing end to an amazing run by Azzarello on Wonder Woman. These 6 volumes are some of the best DC comics I've read full stop. The war with the First Born ends in a satisfying way, tying up loose ends with Zeke, Zola, and the mystery of Zeus' disappearance, as well as letting Diana shine as a force for good. Honestly, I cannot reiterate how excellent this series is and strongly recommend it to everyone. Phenomenal.

End of an era

Azzarellos wonder woman run ends predictably. By which I mean, it ends with a massive, thrilling battle that ties everything together. I'm glad Diana was given a run this good.

Wonder woman leads the Amazon's against the first born, while he attempts to snuff out what remains of the gods. The writers treatment of Greek mythology has always been good, and this book is no exception. And Diana shows off that she's more than just a superhero, she's a leader.

I do have to say there is one plot twist at the end that the story didn't need. But it isn't enough to derail the book. Looking forward to ruckas run.

Ends with a Bang

I have loved this series since the beginning and Azzarello has absolutely knocked it out of the park. Chiang's art might be my favorite part as his take on Greek Mythology continues to impress and inspire me. Good ending to a fabulous run.

The team of Azzarello and Chiang did a great job with this saga

The team of Azzarello and Chiang did a great job with this saga, one of the best of the new 52 and one of the most innovative portraits of Wonder Woman.

An excellent finale to one of the best WW series in decades.

A lot of comic series drop off suddenly or just don't deliver when it comes to the ending, but this one was satisfying and tied everything together well. Cliff Chiang is easily my favorite WW artist as well. Sad to see both of them go.
