Another terrific chapter. Have a hankie on hand.

I am really going to miss these people when the series ends. We have lived with them all for six years, laughing and crying along with the humor and tragedy in their lives. This next to last book, which is the beginning of the winding up of the stories of the so many lives that have touched Peggy Reilly, is just packed with joy and drama and with the tragedy that the aftermath of war can bring.

Penultimate book in the Cliffehaven Series

5 stars for this, the penultimate book in the Cliffehaven series, as the author crafts together all the threads in this saga to make an amazing heartwarming, but in places, sad, ending to the series, but not over yet, there are still a few “ loose ends “ in the final book.

It’s a beautiful family friendly book

So loving this series. It makes me think of when I was a little girl. Not that I was born when the war was on but the family all being together, spending time sitting in the kitchen having a cuppa or watching mum bake/cook. I feel like one of the family and can’t wait for the next instalment.

Feels like family

I’ve love every one of this series I hate when each book ends especially when I realize I have to wait for the next to be completed. She has captured the era so well. It’s not my era but I know it’s correct from what my mom and aunts tell me. Heck it’s not even my country but it’s so well written I feel it so strongly. Thank you Ellie Dean for your wonderful characters telling a story about a terrible time in our world history. Love you!

Great Read.

The second last book in the series and it's definitely winding down.
All the girls that have been staying with Peggy Reilly in the boarding house are making plans and moving on. Ron now lives at the pub with Rosie which means Harvey has also moved out so the house is getting quieter all the time.
However, the odd get together and knees up are still happening as there are quite a few weddings in this one and Peggy is expecting her family to come back from Somerset where they were evacuated to at the beginning of the war but things don't run smoothly on this front.
There still seems to be plenty of food and drink when there's a party which rankled a bit with me. After all these are still days of war and as far as I can remember rationing didn't end completely until 1952.
There's a lot of crying and 'eyes welling up' which is a pet hate of mine in novels. It was all a bit sickly sweet at times.
I enjoyed it though as I have loved the series. Peggy is still my favorite character and I hope she'll get her reward in the last book, due out in January.

Fabulous book number 17

Loved the continuing story about WW2 and the Reilly family. The author weaves in many realistic details about soldiers coming home and what they are dealing with. It was wonderful to revisit the setting and the characters. Book 18 is due out in January 2020 and is said to be the finale. Can’t wait to read the next installment but will be sad for the series to end. Highly recommend this series, but start at the beginning.

Disappointed with the Audible narration this time.

Ugh. Not a fan of whoever reads the the audiobook version this time. Her voice is so different from the two people who read the previous books. Also, how do they all get to Argentina and back in such a short time, TARDIS? Not Ellie Dean’s best effort.

Lovely seriesd

I loved this series and sad that I have read them all. Not only did each book contain a heartwarming story but I learnt so much about the Homefront during WW11 which made them a very good history lesson
