Description

Sarah Reinhard's beautifully designed book is ideal for those families who wish to embrace the true meaning of Christmas and to grow closer to Christ. -Ellen Gable Hrkach, author Give your family a gift before the season begins, and then purchase several extra copies to give to family and friends. -Lisa Hendey, author, founder of CatholicMom.com This booklet is designed to help you and your family capture some of what's intended by the liturgical season of Advent. Each day has a Scripture quote, a brief reflection, and an action to complete. What I hope you gain from this booklet is an appreciation of Advent. Do as much--or as little--as you can each day.May your Advent be blessed this year, and may your Christmas be better for the preparation you do during Advent. Welcome Baby Jesus offers daily activities that encourage families to Think, Pray, and Act based on words from Scripture. These exercises are designed to engage your household during the Advent season by typing Scripture and reflection to your daily life. With each passing Sunday and each candle lighting, your Advent wreath will burn brighter, your family's faith will grow stronger, and the true meaning of this season will be discovered. Sarah Reinhard is a Catholic wife, mother, and writer living in Ohio. She writes at SnoringScholar.com in the midst of rural farm life with little ones underfoot. A convert to Catholicism, she's still learning what to do and when to do it, and she struggles (like so many others) with keeping sight of her faith in the midst of everyday life. Read more

Perfect, short Advent booklet!

LOVE this little Advent Booklet! Although this simple format had me hopeful that my 4 year old son and I could take the time every day in December to do these short lessons, I got a little behind and wasn't able to do every one. I loved the format of each day... each day had an applicable bible verse, then Think, Pray & Act sections that made the lesson come alive. The way the lessons are worded, I had to read ahead and paraphrase/translate for my four year old. He's just now able to grasp some biblical concepts, but much of the text in these lessons would have been over his head had I read it verbatim to him. Because of the busy-ness of the season (we've got a new baby at home) we weren't able to do each day's lesson, but we did sit down once or twice a week to read through one.. AND we made sure to stop every Sunday to light the Hope, Peace, Love, Joy & Christ candles, talk about the significance of that week's candle, and say our prayer for that day. The price was GREAT and we were happy to have this as part of our Advent Celebration this year.

Delightful Advent Book for the Entire Family!

Sarah Reinhard's new book, Welcome Baby Jesus: Advent and Christmas Reflections for Families, takes a refreshing, unique approach to Advent.

There are many children's Advent/Christmas books out there, but this delightful book includes activities and reflections for the entire family.

From the author: "Advent is a season that's almost forgotten by the secular world. You'll find Advent calendars, to be sure, but they are really an adornment for the "Christmas season," which begins sometime after Halloween and ends on Christmas Day."

Each section encompasses three different activities: Think, Pray and Act. Each Sunday has its own theme. The First Sunday of Advent and the week following is "Get Ready." The Second Sunday and following week is "Repent." The Third Sunday's theme is "Love," and the fourth Sunday, "Anticipate." The Christmas season has its own theme:" Rejoice." There are also stories and activities for the Feast of the Epiphany.

What sets this apart from other Advent preparation books is that it has reflections and activities for the entire family (parents included) so that both parent and child can prepare for the celebration of Christ's birth.

It may be months away, but Sarah Reinhard's beautifully designed book is ideal for those families who wish to embrace the true meaning of Christmas and to grow closer to Christ. I highly recommend this wonderful book to everyone!

the pages & covers feel more like a pamphlet passed out at church

I thought this would be an actual book, however, the pages & covers feel more like a pamphlet passed out at church. I'm worried that it will not last long w/ my two children.

Good short devotionals to share with the family during the advent season. We are not Catholic, so there were a few places we altered the prayers or instructions to fit protestant theology. Our kids enjoyed it as well.

Very good, simple advent, minus catholic terms

I loved this but it had Catholic phrases that I don't understand as a Christian. But I was still grateful for the lessons and scriptures, my children and I brought Jesus back into Christmas!

Still a little advanced for our two-year-old, but has enough content to benefit grown-ups, too. I plan on continuing to use it every year. Also, it's Catholic, but not objectionably so.

It is so nice to have an Advent book my son (5) can follow along with, that isn't over his head. However, since this can be used each year, I do wish it were more than a paper booklet (less durable than even a soft cover book).

I was a little disappointed in this book

I was a little disappointed in this book. If you are Catholic, which we are not, it is probably a great devotional! I wish the description would have stated that it was centered around the Catholic church.
