Description

About the Author Drawing upon her experiences in Jamesport, the largest Old Order Amish community west of the Mississippi, longtime Missourian Charlotte Hubbard writes of simpler times and a faith-based lifestyle. Charlotte considers it her personal mission to feed people—to share hearth and home. Faith and family, farming and food preservation are hallmarks of her lifestyle—and the foundation of all her Amish romance series. She’s a deacon, a dedicated church musician, and a choir member. When she’s not writing, she loves to try new recipes, crochet, and sew. Charlotte now lives in Minnesota with her husband and their border collie.

Features & Highlights

  • Founded by the three Bender sisters, the Amish community of Promise Lodge is thriving—and growing. In fact, residents are thrilled to welcome a charismatic new arrival—one who may not just strengthen their faith, but put it to the test . . .
  • When Christine Bender meets widowed Bishop Monroe Burkholder, it’s love at first sight. But Preacher Amos finds him too good to be true, and is determined to find out what’s behind his sudden, unannounced arrival. Still, the colony needs a new bishop, and everyone is excited to have a younger, more progressive leader. As for Christine, Monroe returns her affection, but her bubble is soon burst with the arrival of a young woman half his age . . .Leola Duff claims Monroe “ruined” her and she now intends to make an honest man of him. But throughout the process of discovering the truth, Christine never doubts that Monroe is the fine man she believes him to be—and never wavers in her faith that all will work out as it should. And when Monroe is forced to confess the truth before the entire congregation, he can only pray that open hearts and minds will prevail, allowing him a future at Promise Lodge—with Christine . . .

Trust Can Be Difficult

Promise Lodge sounds like a wonderful place to live, but everything is not always rosy. They have problems just like everywhere else. In fact, in this third book in the series, the problems seem to escalate for the Bender sisters. The story opens with Mattie getting married to Preacher Amos. Rosetta has been interested in Truman Wickey since their first meeting, but he is a Mennonite and Old Order Amish are not allowed to marry Mennonites. Christine has recently met Bishop Monroe, who is new to their community. From the looks of things, two younger women who suddenly arrive at Promise Lodge are chasing after Truman and Bishop Monroe. They generate quite a bit of “excitement” although Rosetta and Christine find it to be more stressful than exciting. One thing stood out more in this book than it did in the first two books. It seems this small community of Amish are constantly celebrating with huge feasts. You might want to eat before you start reading or you may find yourself snacking all the way through. The spreads they put on sounded like meals fit for a king. I think I need to go find something to eat before I get started on another book.

Weddings??But who??

Weddings at Promise Lodge written by Charlotte Hubbard is the next amazing book in her Promise Lodge series. In this continuing series we again get to visit with the wonderful characters from previous books. However, there are a few new ones too!

Since the title has the word weddings in it who and how many are getting married? One might be a given but the one I was hoping for fid not happen. I am not giving any spoilers you need to reed this awesome story.

Who is the newest young arrival at Promise Lodge and why is she interrupting a service? She will send this story on many curves but can she prevent another marriage from taking place?

Once again Charlotte has left us with a grest cliffhanger and it will make you wonder what will happen next. I look forward to the next book to continue this story. I also look forward to the next beautiful cover that Charlotte always places on her books.

I was given an advanced complimentary copy of this amazing book to read and review by the author. I was not asked to hive a positive response. I have rated this book with 5 stars for a story that continues to meet my expectations. I highly recommend this book and series to all those who love the Amish genre with romance and mystery.

CONGRATULATIONS to Charlotte Hubbard on releasing another great story. I will be waiting for this series to continue.
