Gorgeous adaptation of a wonderful game

This manga is gorgeous, and somehow manages to be both a fresh AND faithful adaptation of mogeko's cult hit game. As a huge fan of the game, I'm in love with it. Not to mention, the book is thicker than typical serial manga, but priced the same. It's really an amazing value.
In case any other fans are worried and don't know, the Sea of Death arc will be released in a sequel collection that's still in production! Can't wait!

Long time fan, an absolute Must Have.

Been a huge fan of Deep Sea Prisoner for years. I was stoked to see that they were starting a manga for their game under the same title. I was stoked to see that they were making PHYSICAL copies of the manga. They've come a long way and it brings a tear to my eye.

I actually haven't read through the whole book myself yet but I see that it takes a different route from the game which is quite interesting but hey, I guess you gotta keep kind of PG for the general public (trust me, the game gets DARK).

The actual book itself came in great condition and looks gorgeous. The cover and back are stylish while the art on the inside is crisp. I'm glad I finally bit the bullet and bought this book, I've been dying to get it since its release.

With all that being said, this is a must have for someone who wishes to read a story about some cutesy personified ocean animals, with the occasional scene where a character gets beaten down. Don't worry though, I can promise you nothing too bad happens in the manga like it does in the game.

Good series

I recommend this if you are familiar with the author's game. Some elements make more sense if you have the prior knowledge.
On it's own, Wadanohara is a very cute manga with lots of conflict. If you like magic, witches, cute sea familiars, silly moments and cute romances, it would be worth getting.
This volume doesn't seem to imply a "to be continued" but the series is still being published, so there are/will be more volumes.

It's great if you're a fan of the artist's style but it's bad adaptation from the game

If you haven't played the game, this book will almost certainly be boring, verging on annoying, and more than likely an unsatisfying read. As a fan of the original game, I'm pretty disappointed with how it plays out as a comic. I really wanted to like it because I did enjoy the game a lot, problematic as it was, but if left me with the impression that the artist isn't great at the storytelling part of comic work and hopefully will handle the next part of the series better. I really love their art style so if nothing else I get to see more of their art, but it's honestly the only thing I appreciate about this book.

It suffers pretty badly from poor set up and bad pacing, and again I say this as someone who has played the game, which also had its fair share of pacing issues. Many of the general events and ideas that were in the game play out but often times very differently and at different points in the story. I went in fully ready to embrace changed events but the way they were changed didn't help the story line and honestly made it work less than in the original (spoiler: such as when at the very beginning wadanohara is in the witch world specifically to find out what happened to her memories, when in the game it seems like she isn't aware that there is an actual gap in her memory, just that there is some looming curse over her and that Things Changed.). I'd hoped the comic would bring in more background information but it didn't show anything that isn't explained in the game, or even conflicted a bit (spoiler again: like, it seems to be implying that Samekichi stabbed wada when he left as her familiar?? what??).

The comic also leaves out a LOT of characters and events(probably for the better) but the ones it does show us are even more brief than in the game and with no time to have an ounce of personality for the characters or add momentum for the story. The biggest fatality is the absence of Lobco's parents. Most of the quest you would do in the first half of the game is wrapped up in a few pages and left the book devoid of any sense of journey, no development on wadanohara's character as she breaks down from the stress (and slowly realizing things are not right with her memories), and makes it seem like the hero group literally did nothing. It's hard to root for them when you don't see them in action besides octopus boy destroying everything in one hit.

I also saw a lot of complains about how this book 'ends' which, as we know it isn't the end but it's certainly presented as an end so I understand the confusion. The princess' resolution was just as crummy in the game but there were a lot of characters and background factors that aren't in the adaptation that carry over to the second half of the game, which really increases the finality factor that this might be a one book series.

the short version: the art is good, but this isn't a great adaptation, the things they changed did the story dirty rather than helped it, and it's honestly kinda boring and gives you no chance to connect with any of the characters, not even the protagonist. I hope the next one is better.

So cuuuteee

I ordered this manga shortly after beginning the game. The book arrived quickly and good condition. The book is beautifully done with an interesting storyline. The book is thick and there's a lot to read which in my opinion is good. I think the book is wonderful and would recommend it.

Really happy with the shipping and all

Ordered this ages ago but forgot to review until now. Really happy with the shipping and all, colored pages are cute and the translation is solid. Really psyched to see one of my favorite artists finally get their work published in a book!
