Pretty Good... More designed for what special forces actually do

This isn't a tactics book, this is a management book. It focuses more on gathering a force to fight and then supplying, assisting, and managing them. Which is what The Special Forces do... This is not a tactics book.

Dated

This book appears to be a word-for-word facsimile of Army Field Manual FM 31-21 "Guerrilla Warfare And Special Forces Operations." I have a copy of the 29 September 1961 version and the only difference between that edition and this book (aside from the slick cover) is that the date and the notation that it supersedes the 1958 edition are missing from the book. The 1961 version is apparently the last field manual with that precise name, and in 1969 FM 31-21 is just "Special Forces Operations."

The information in the book is good as far as it goes, but if you're expecting something modern, this isn't it.

Not exactly the latest info

Judging from the other reviews, I wonder if anyone noticed that although the date of original publication has been removed, it is an FM published by HQs Dept of the Army, Washington 25, DC. That makes it 1963 or older, before zip codes were established. It is actually a wonderful historical document describing Special Forces organization, etc very early in the Vietnam War. For me, it brings back all kinds of memories of my youth. Just a great book!

A bit too technical

I was hoping that this would read a bit more like FM 3-21.8, putting everything into easy to learn layman's terms. I bought this book for a friend with an interest in guerrilla warfare tactics. This book focuses much less on the tactical side of conducting unconventional warfare tactics and placing much emphasis on the organizational and technical side of it. That is to say, I was hoping that it would be oriented towards a junior leader audience (TL-PL) but instead it focuses more on the operations level.

Good

Informative, but from the late 90's. It talks about the USIS. The USIS was disbanded and then revamped as a part of the Dept of Interior. The disbanding was in 98' I believe. So the info is not up to date as it's said it is supposed to be, but it's good info none the less.

Copy of FM 31-21

Good reference for Special Forces guerilla warfare but redundant if you already have a copy of FM 31-21. It would have been nice for this to be mentioned in the description.

This seems like a must for prepers

As a lot of people have stated this is really a book on how the guerrilla organization is organised and communicates. This seems like a must for prepers.

U. S. Army Guerrilla Warefare Handbook.

This little book has some very accurate information in it. I was trained in Guerrilla Warefare, Riot Control and Urban Combat in the late 60's. Also 82nd Airborne. Survival Course with the Rangers. I am 67-yo and still a Soldier, still in good physical condition.
This book filled my need to reminisce.
Thanks Seller.
