Set in a small, gossipy Pennsylvania town, with intense and intriguing plot twists and formidably engaging characters, she keeps readers on their toes. But it’s definitely her knight in shining armor and flawed heroine with trust issues, plus an impressive pint-sized costar, who rule every page of this unforgettable story.” ― RT Book Reviews “Lovely, sexy, and well-written, with a great cast of finely-drawn characters. This is a modern-day Cinderella story that will make you hope again. I enjoyed every page.” -- Amy Harmon, New York Times bestselling author Praise for Surviving Ice : “ Surviving Ice has it all: suspense, romance, forgiveness, and second chances all rolled into one.” ― San Diego Book Review “Entertaining and enthralling, lovers of suspense titles will be captivated by the suspenseful plot of this story. • Twenty-four-year-old truck stop waitress and single mother Catherine Wright has simple goals: to give her five-year-old daughter a happy life and to never again be the talk of the town in Balsam, Pennsylvania (population three thousand outside of tourist season). And then one foggy night, on a lonely road back from another failed date, Catherine saves a man’s life. It isn’t until after the police have arrived that Catherine realizes exactly who it is she has rescued: Brett Madden, hockey icon and media darling. Catherine has already had her fifteen minutes of fame and the last thing she wants is to have her past dragged back into the spotlight, only this time on a national stage. So she hides her identity. It works. For a time. But when she finds the man she saved standing on her doorstep, desperate to thank her, all that changes. There’s an immediate connection, and it’s more electric than the bond of two people who endured a traumatic event. It’s something neither of them expected. Something that Catherine isn’t sure she can handle; something she is afraid to trust. Because how long can an extraordinary man like Brett be interested in an ordinary woman like Catherine...before the spark fades?

All the sweetness you'd expect from a Cinderella-esque romance

After reading (and enjoying) a lot of K.A. Tuckers romantic suspense, I can wholeheartedly that she does the sweet romance just as good.
Until It Fades was a sweet burn type of love story that moved along at just the right pace to keep me intrigued and engaged. I found myself reading it over the course of an afternoon because I just didn't want to put it down.
I was captured from the very beginning and I found that it was perfectly balanced with the flashbacks of the past that revealed Cath's past bit by bit. And being honest I was a fan of Brett from the very first time he shows up at Cath's door - a really big fan. He was every bit the book boyfriend I was hoping he'd be, never letting my love for him waver... not even for a sentence.

And in true Tucker fashion Cath and Brett were surrounded by a well developed cast of secondary characters.
Well written and well developed, Until It Fades reminded me of all the reasons I was drawn to K.A. Tucker's writing style many books ago.
I cannot wait to add this one to my shelf with all the other five star gems she has written.

Such a Great Romance

As a long time K.A. Tucker fan, I really felt like I knew what I was getting into when I picked up Until It Fades. Fortunately, my imagination has nothing on the reality of this book.

First of all, I have to say that Until It Fades has a vulnerability to it that you won't find in any of Tucker's other books. It was intriguing and completely captured my heart from the beginning.

Catherine has been run through the wringer, but she's come out smarter and stronger for it. I love how independent she is. When you've had no one to rely on but yourself, it's hard to let others step in and help you. For Catherine, there is also a certain amount of pride as well, but she puts all of that aside to make things better for her little girl.

I think Tucker thoroughly captures the essence of a seventeen-year-old in love during the flashbacks. Emotions run high and everything seems 'life or death' when you are young and these little bits of the story bring these feelings back in grand fashion. They also slowly reveal what Catherine has been through and let you know little by little why she makes some of the choices she does.

Brett Madden is a great character. He is confident and kind. He is gentle and generous. I love how quickly he accepts Catherine and all the past baggage she comes with. He is the perfect balance to Catherine. He pushes her and stretches her and literally makes her dreams come true.

This book is about romance, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many great relationship stories happening in the background of this book. Brett and Catherine are obviously the focus of the book, but the story also shows how Catherine repairs the relationship between herself and her parents. Catherine has some great co-workers who teach her how friends are supposed to love each other, something that she lost in all of the drama in her past. Because of their kindness, Catherine is able to put away the bitterness that could've consumed her.

I feel a bit like I'm rambling, but I just loved so many different things about this book.

As I said, I've read Tucker's work in the past, but Until It Fades comes with something extra special that has secured it as a Favorite Read.

A must read- 5 stars!

I couldn't put it down!! Won an ARC from Goodreads
I love Brett's connection with Catherine. He never once looked down on her for not having much. He was always sincere and never about himself.
Catherine didn't change after everything happened. She stayed true to herself and her daughter.
This was one of my favorite books so far this year. A must read! I don't want to give much away!

Slow and bland

Slow build. Boring. Bland. Actively disliked heroine. Skipped most of it and didn't miss anything.

HOLY SWOON-FEST!!!

5 CINDERELLA STARS

So it's been a long minute since I last read a KA Tucker book. After reading this, I am kicking myself for not discovering this book sooner! I devoured this book in one sitting, staying up most of the night to finish.

It had all the elements I've been feeling for lately: a Cinderella-ish trope involving hot NHL hockey players with a slow burn at a pace just fast enough to keep my attention to the very sweet end.
To me, this was reminiscent of Ten Tiny Breathes. The initial meet between Catherine and Brett threw me into an immediate frenzy. It was shocking and traumatic. Catherine essentially saves Brett's life after he gets involved in a major car crash. This alone already establishes a unique connection between these two humans. However, their unexpected attraction, the slow and swoony progression of courtship between Catherine and Brett, was so well built that I wanted more; to know more; to know what happens next. And I hurriedly turned the pages to get there.

KA Tucker possesses a gift of creating beautiful and detailed imagery in her prose. This story is told in Catherine's point of view, and I think this is exactly what I needed after reading several books with alternating male/female POVs. Tucker flawlessly describes expressions, and thoughtful and often sarcastic stream-of-consciousness thought that brought Catherine's character to life. I reveled with Catherine in the mystery and speculation of what Brett was thinking. I rejoiced and applauded whenever she received a text from Brett, and shared in her secret smiles as they exchanged flirtatious banter.

Although being a bit of departure from Tucker's typical trope of mystery/thriller, this is the perfectly paced contemporary romance that I happily got lost in. Don't be like me, read this one sooner than later!

My favorite K.A. Tucker book to date!

Oh man this book left me reeling! This is by far my favorite K.A. Tucker book! And I've read them all. I mean all her books are amazing! I just love the way she writes and the characters are so relatable and real that I get sucked into the story. I find myself flying through all the books and not wanting it to end at the same time. This book was no exception. Until It Fades is one of her more light-hearted books. It's a fairy tale love story and it had me from the beginning. I just loved everything about it. From how they met, to the very end. Catherine is just a single mom who has been scorned by the small town she lives in until she meets Brett.

I mean BRETT! He was just a perfect book boyfriend. He is like my image of a perfect man. I am basically ruined for any man I meet in real life because none of them would be as close to Brett.

The instant connection Brett and Catherine has is very obvious and I just love that it wasn't instant love. Catherine had her reservations and Brett had his life but it didn't matter because their feelings for each other just grew and you definitely see that in the book.

This is definitely a book I would re-read time and time again. This is definitely a GREAT book to read to get you in a good mood. It definitely affected me. I am definitely setting my sets high on a guy that is into me as much as Brett is to Catherine. Everyone deserves a guy like Brett!

SINGLE MOM ROMANCE

⭐⭐⭐⭐ / 4 stars

A modern day Cinderella story if Cinderella was a single mom and Prince Charming a hockey phenom.

I enjoyed this slow burn romance. It's got love, family, humor, and just a hint of drama that makes for a steady paced read that will have your heart full and leave you with a contented sigh...

"It's good to have dreams. Without dreams, we wouldn't have goals. And without goals... what's the point of living?"

Ok

I love KA Tucker and have no clue why I put off reading this for so long. Unfortunately, this one did not blow me away. It was still good but did not rise to the level that I expect from the author.

I am not a fan of insta-love at all, so I appreciated that Cate and Brett do not actually meet until after 100 pages. However; it moved so slow even after they meet and I found the story dragging. I enjoyed the beginning, but from there not much happens. I do feel this would make a great made for TV movie though.

Overall, this was not her best work and I was a little disappointed. Still a solid three star read, but I expect more from one of my favorite authors.
