A great steamy story

This book is everything. If you want steamy, I've got steamy for you. But it's the kind of intelligent steamy that has the sex mean something, psychologically. If you want emotional and poignant, this book got it. If you want a lovely way with words, I've got you covered. It is also entertaining and I finished it in one sitting. This is book two about the people involved in the Alchemy club. The first one dealt with the trauma from strict religious patriarchy and it was great. But I think this one was better. Once again, we have some sex related shame and guilt to deal with. Less to do with religion, more with bereavement and an age gap situation. He needs to open up to having sex again. She is very open about sex but has to work through giving commitment a chance.

Zach is a widowed father of two, and he's struggling with grief and parenting his grieving daughters. He's in charge of the finances of the sex club but hasn't taken part in the more hands-on experience. He hasn't been with anyone since his wife died but lately he's had his eye on Maddy, a younger woman who seems so full of life. They have serious sexual chemistry but he feels like he's betraying his late wife if he acts on it. Maddy gets aroused by the thought of being used to satisfy his sexual needs and offers to help him scratch the itch, so to speak. They get into some sexual shenanigans at the club but when they catch feelings Zach wants monogamy and commitment. Maddy feels inadequate for a serious relationship with Zach because of the age difference and his children's needs, scared that she's merely a plaything and a phase, and he will find a more grown-up relationship later. She's an adult at 23 but closer in age to his 10-year old daughter than him. Her mother is into sexual liberation and may have played a role in creating the expectations that Maddy should live it up and be scared of a good thing with Zach. I loved the characters, and the signs his late wife was sending them.

Undulate is a GORGEOUS, sexy story of grief, ki*k and hope, and Elodie Hart has knocked me off my feet!

I am overwhelmed by my love for Maddy. Her zest for life, and her love for her own sexuality, and her belief in herself and her own strength are just so poignant. There were times she would bring me to tears just being this bouncy, lively, wickedly smart young woman who knows exactly what she wants and not being afraid to reach out and grab it!

How many of us have wanted that kind of self-confidence, and fought so hard to find it, only to have it yanked away from us or to be beaten down even as we were fighting for it?

Zach is EVERYTHING!! At first he's so sad, and I can't blame him, having watched this kind of sudden death it's rare to see people bounce back. I loved, LOVED his discussion with Father John after his first heavy time with Maddy, and how John told him in no uncertain terms he had a right to be happy and to get out of his own way. That is refreshing to hear from any member of the clergy, even these days, when so many would guide have tried to guilt or guide him down a different path.

Zach and Maddy's coming together, when he decides he wants more than just time at Alchemy is so sweet and sensitive, and I wasn't surprised when he shocked her with the quote below. When Maddy thought how rare it was to be called a human, and not just a woman, that she had more to offer than just her body. I just teared up with her.

‘I should tell you, too. It’s important to say these things when we have the chance. That’s something I learnt the hard way. You, Mads, are an incredible human being.’

On top of everything else gorgeous in this book, the smexy times were just about my undoing. Alchemy, and what it shows Zach and Maddy in terms of what they want and WHO they want it from, is simply stunning.

I'd give Elodie Hart ten stars for Zach and Meddy if I could, but I'll settle for an earth shattering, sizzlingly hot five out of five for Undulate.

This was the second book by Elodie Hart in the Alchemy series. We met Zach and Maddy in the first book, Unfurl. Zach is a widowed, single father of two girls and is co-owner of the sex club Alchemy even if he doesn’t partake. Maddy is the new,y hired social media coordinator for Alchemy. And she says the best perk she got with the job is her membership to Alchemy. She takes full advantage of her membership and enjoys every moment of it. How in the world can these two opposites end up together? The author brings you along as both characters grow and change in their own way, together and separately. The story is full of heart and so much heat!🔥🔥🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 There is a trigger warning section in the beginning of the book. Take this to heart. In the end, Zach and Maddy, aka Zaddy, get their well deserved HEA.

This is Book 2 in the Alchemy series and is the love story of Maddy and Zach (aka ZADDY). You meet these two in Book 1 of the series and can feel the longing between them. However, these two are such polar opposites in every way, I really didn’t know how the author was going to connect them BUT can I just say, she did it BRILLIANTLY! Seriously, it’s one of my new all-time favorite books! It had everything… heat (like a 5 alarm fire…so hot and spicy and just WOW), off the charts chemistry (which is a given with all the heat), romance, big feelings, big emotions, and heartfelt moments…. JUST PERFECTION! I feel bad that I can’t even do the book justice with my words!
Zach is a widower with two young girls who is still grieving for his wife who died of pancreatic cancer, and who is also part owner of a s#x club but never enjoyed the perks because he was happily married and kink wasn’t their thing. We see him as a shy, loving father, who is still grieving tremendously for his soulmate, but boy does he not disappoint in the bedroom….. it was a nice surprise to find him growly and alpha!
Maddy is a confident young woman who is unashamed of her s3xuality and partakes in exploring her it at the club quite often. I loved that her mom taught her not to be ashamed of who she was and that she stayed true to herself throughout the book.
When Zach dips his toes into exploring the club, he and Maddy come to a mutual agreement to enjoy each other and she agrees to help him get him back into the swing of things. However, these two find something in each other that neither knew they were looking for and the way the author tells the story is so captivating and honest. It does not sugarcoat the subject of grief/guilt and is so real and honest. I swooned, I laughed and I cried. I absolutely adored this book! IT’S A MUST READ!

A lot of Heat with a lot of Heart

I was hooked from the first sentence! Zach is a mid-thirties widower trying to raise two young girls on his own. He is the finance director for the high-end sex club he owns with his three best friends, but his role is strictly behind the scenes. Since his wife died 18 months ago, he has no desire to go through the doors into the “playroom”. Zach and his daughters are still grieving and seeing the things they do to keep her memory alive is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Zach’s not ready for any kind of relationship and doesn’t want to cheat on his wife or the memory of her and their relationship. When Maddy joins the staff of Alchemy he’s attracted to her flirtatious, high-energy outlook on life and sexuality.

Maddy is the new social media manager for Alchemy and is the complete opposite of Zach. At 23 she’s adventurous and loves exploring all that the playroom has to offer. She’s a liberated, smart, and sassy young woman but avoids commitment, which makes the club perfect for her, no more first dates. Maddy is attracted to her handsome, uptight colleague and thinks he just needs a little push to get back into life. So, she offers herself to him, no ties, no expectations, just use her body to release the stress and tension of grief.

Their relationship is hot from the first touch and Zach finds he can’t stay away from her. The lines start to blur for both of them, the line between serious relationships and casual yet intense sexual attraction. Zach fights the guilt of betraying the memories of his wife and his growing feelings for Maddy. He’s also worried about how his young daughters will react to him bringing Maddy into the family as more than a friend. Maddie is afraid she’s not prepared to be in a relationship or to give the girls what they need. She wonders if Zach will tire of her and find someone older who can be the partner he needs.

Sara Madderson (writing as Elodie Hart for the Alchemy books) has done an excellent job at telling this sexy (and explicit) story of grief, longing, guilt, insecurity, and love and bringing the characters to life in a way that engages the reader from the beginning. I can’t wait for what comes next in this series!

Reminds me of the Salacious Players Club series... but with a lot of heart

Wow. I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of this and it blew my mind. I have a little secret... I wasn't super excited to read this, but man I am so glad I did. I love this author's writing, but I have never been into the single dad trope. Honestly I went in thinking I would try it out, but probably DNF.

Boy, I was wrong.

This book is steamy. It is like really, really hot. But it was so, so, so much more then that. The story was so beautiful. Zach is a widower dad, which again, I've never really loved reading about. Maddy is a young, sexually free woman just coming into her own. And honestly, so is Zach.

This is a couple who grows so much through the course of the book, both together and individually. There were so many things I didn't relate to, couldn't relate to because I haven't ever experienced it, but the way it was written... it moved me. I fully cried at several parts because there was just so much emotion coming out of the page. Don't worry, it is super spicy, too.

Read this book, y'all. I wish they could all be like this.
