Tons of Patterns Really creative
I pre ordered this about two months before it came out. I was expecting to just see a few of some of Twinkie Chan's awesome items, but there are tons of her signature items. There are 20 patterns, most of them being scarfs that are made from small pieces that are crocheted together.
It includes three sections: Sweets things, Fruits and Veggies, and Savory stuff.
The patterns it includes are
Cupcake Scarf
Candy Button Scarf
Gingerbread Man Scarf (My favorite)
Lemon Coconut Cake Tissue Cozy
Rocket Popsicle Scarf
Soft Serve Ice Cream Scarf
Cupcake Hat with Frosting
Bacon and Eggs Scarf
Buttered Toast Scarf
Sushi Scarf
Pepperoni Pizza Scarf
Popcorn Scarf
Spaghetti n Meatballs Scarf
Twinkie's patterns are fairly simple to follow so any advanced beginner or intermediate should be able to follow them without problems, but beginners might need some help. Her designs are abit out there and not for everyone's taste but they can easily be adapted to suit most everyone's taste. The food motifs could be made into coasters, pot holders, purses or many other things. The Spaghetti Scarf is a simple fun way for someone to start felting. The popsicle scarf could easily be a regular scarf and is a nice simple crocheted cable scarf. The Cupcake hat is worked flat and produces a beautiful textured piece that makes diagonal stripes. I loved that one and I think I'll be using that technique for many different things.
It's a beautiful high quality book with tons of creative patterns that every crocheter should try.
It doesn't have crochet charts for patterns but she does have tons of pictures and diagrams for how to sew pieces together or arrange them. Most crochet books are bogged down with pages of beginner how tos but Twinkie's is not. It does include basic images on how to do you basic stitches and decreases. She lists well recognized resource websites for people to learn and get more patterns. (Many of which I use and was where I learned) There's information on yarn weights and what tools are needed.
The tone of the book is very friendly and encouraging similar to a way a friend might be teaching you. Lots of creative and unique designs that are perfect to get your own creative bug going, to learn a few new techniques or ways to use simple stitches to make something special.

Perfect!!
This book is PERFECT! Patterns are creative and well written, even has row count if its multiple rows! I started counting the number of rows out, took another glance at the pattern, and it was already printed right there! Makes everything so easy :D. I know what EVERYONE is getting for Christmas this year!
Twinkie Chan is a rock star; I'm so inspired by her and will certainly be looking for more of her books in the future! Great buy for beginners and experienced crocheters alike. Her version of the popcorn stitch is just one example of how she makes everything super easy! Her down to earth attitude towards crocheting matches my own, especially the part where she explains how gauge for these types of projects is not important. I've NEVER looked at the gauge in a project, but then again I really only crochet amigurumi.

Super cute...
I got this book because my sister wanted it, so I got one copy for her and one for me. We both really like the pieces, and have enjoyed this book so much! The book has illustrations on how to connect your pieces and good pictures of the author sporting the finished product, so you get a clear idea of what your end result will be. On the whole, I (and my sister) L-O-V-E this book.
The one problem I had is that the directions can be a little vague for a beginner. For instance, on the cupcake hat, when you make the icing part your piece should be a parallelagram shape so that the icing swirls. The directions for getting the end result are a teensy confusing, but what I think would throw a begginer off is that it doesn't tell you it should be a slanty sided rectangle. So you think you are doing it wrong and try to adjust to make it not slanty...I know this because I had to redo it partway through...I realized my wrongness when I paid better attention to the picture of the finished product (they are actually very helpful!). My sister did the same thing, not realizing that it should be slanty and her hat icing had no swirls. How sad! I guess if we had both just trusted the Twinks we would have done it right...but we didn't, and have learned our lesson...
Over all I would buy this book! (And buy one for your sister!) Just learn from my mistake, and do what they teach you in elementary school...FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS!

Many Yarns Discontinued
I purchased this book about 2 months ago and wanted to make the cupcake scarf first. One of the yarns for this scarf (Lion Brand Homespun in Cotton Candy) is discontinued almost impossible to find. I searched for days looking for this yarn. I was able to buy a few skeins on eBay but I ended up paying a fortune since it was discontinued. My second project, I wanted to do the Sushi scarf. That scarf also requires the Lion Brand Homespun in Cotton Candy and another yarn color from Homespun (Lemonade). THAT is also discontinued. I have looked over the entire book and have found several yarns that are discontinued so it makes it really hard to make a scarf that looks like hers if you don't have the right yarn. If I would have known that many of the yarns are discontinued, I don't think I would have purchased the book. You can make a similar looking scarf with alternative yarns, but they don't look as nice as the ones in the book.

My first crochet book and I love it!
Years back I remember seeing Twinkie Chan goodies for sale on eBay and thinking OMG! I wish I could make those!! Woohoo now I can! I literally never crocheted a thing in my life, but this book makes it easy enough to get started. There are clear How-to instructions given for each stitch included in this book, however I couldnt find one for BLO, but that's ok. I admit I had to do some Googling and Youtube video watching, but I believe I now have the basics down thanks to these inspiring patterns. So far I have made the Cupcake Hat and am almost finished on the Pear Scarf and I can't wait to start more! Like another reviewer mentioned there are a few discontinued yarn suggestions listed, but it's easy enough to substitute, besides I like changing up colors.
This book is awesome and I look forward to seeing more crochet books from Twinkie Chan!

Scarves that look good enough to eat!!
I bought this book along with 2 other food related crochet books. Honestly I have not made any patterns out of it yet, but I think I may have to start off with the eggs and bacon scarf!! I have a few people that have thumbed through the book and they like that one the best. However, there are some other funky scarves that look pretty cool such as the buttered toast scarf, cookie scarf, and the popcorn scarf.
There are also a couple of other projects in the book that are not scarves. There is a cupcake hat and strawberry fingerless gloves as well.
Anyway if you are interested in being very unique with your clothing accessories you may enjoy these patterns. I have not seen any like these until I came across this book. You could probably make variations on some of them as well. I think I may have to morph the eggs and bacon scarf into a green eggs and ham scarf!!
Enjoy!!

Fun designs that make beginners look like experts...
I am so in love with this book. I've been knitting for many years but only took up crochet recently. I've made both the Astropop scarf and the Candy Dots scarf and they were fast and easy to make. With a little help from YouTube videos (it's easier for me to learn the stitches that way) I had no problems as a beginner getting my scarves looking just like her pictures. The projects are a ton of fun and inspirational for those who don't have the skill level or patience for crochet/knitting the "boring" stuff. I found that her instructions were pretty simple and straight forward...but coming from a knitting background things like that make sense to me. Though with a little determination, I think this makes a great project book for beginners even without a needlecraft background because these are the types of projects that will motivate you to learn the craft. Just a little bit beyond basic beginner level to make things more interesting. Its a lot better than learning how to crochet/knit granny squares. Just be aware that many yarn colors she used may be discontinued but still available online. I hope that she expands her designs beyond the scarves to include larger items such as sweaters and blankets in her next book.

Way too cute!!!
I love this book! I have made only two projects out of it, the carrot scarf & the cupcake hat, but already I love this book! The patterns are very cute & easy to follow. The directions are well written. I have to work on doing the other projects as I would love to make every one! The only one I didn't love & won't rush to make is the spaghetti & meatballs scarf....otherwise, everything else is way too cute!
Great book if you want something fun & funky to make. As a beginner, I would say other beginers would do well with this book.

Twinkie Chan's crochet goodies
If you crochet and are somewhat zanny, this is the book to own. Great crazy patterns for both kids and adults. My 30 something daughter and son-in-law just had to have the bacon and egg and french toast scarf. A must to have.
