Features & Highlights

  • A companion story to the original True Haunting. True Haunting 2 is from the voices and experiences of Marsha, the stay-at-home wife, and Dan, one of the longer-term tenants from the first floor apartment and includes material left out of the first book. A factual account written by a best-selling author, featuring the birth of televised paranormal! This is the story of a true haunting. It was the first ever televised paranormal event by NBC in 1971. A young couple purchases a building that was built and occupied by a single family that refused to relinquish their hold, even after death. Investigated and verified by experts, this residence brought chaos to the lives of those who chose to reside there. Unlike a horror novel, this chronicles what a real ghostly experience truly is. Long before the laws of disclosure, a young couple winds up in the midst of strange occurrences, and survives. True Haunting was a 40+ year project, starting from the time we moved out. The book broke all sorts of records and even launched itself into television. The paranormal was not something people discussed back in the 70's, and it certainly didn't have the acceptance and toleration people have for it today. But, about twenty-five years later, society was a slightly more accepting. Now, the writing will not stop. Thousands of emails have poured in asking about Marsha's story; and, we're happy to say that after publishing True Haunting, the "Dave" in the book--actual name: Dan White--contacted me 40 years later and we have since rekindled a lost relationship that was once hindered by business and the darkness that was encompassed within the house. Thus, True Haunting 2 was born!

Excellent companion to True Haunting!

This book is an excellent companion to True Haunting. This book starts from the beginning, but this time around, from Ed's wife's point of view, and includes a good amount of material from the downstairs tenant that Ed did not have access when he first published True Haunting. the book is written by Ed Becker, but as I mentioned, from his wife's perspective. Presumably Ed has extensively interviewed his wife, compiled her experiences and thoughts and written this book in her "voice." It is kind of odd to know that the first person narrative is being written by someone else, but it does not detract from the enjoyment of this book for me.
There are additional incidents that were not relayed in the first book, and expanded versions of happenings from the first book.
I really enjoy Ed's no-nonsense, logical, straight to the point writing style. It makes me feel like the writer has a good grasp on what he is observing and has the critical thinking skills to analyze it in a reasonable manner. That gives the author's observations and opinions a great sense of credibility. This book, and True Haunting (#1) are by far the best written, and most believable haunting books I've read, and I don't think I could get any closer to believing any other author than I am here. Obviously, we don't know if any of this stuff is true. Personally, I'm not from the "Show-me" state (Missouri) like Ed is, but I still need to "see it to believe it." The logical writing style might just be a device to sell this story as authentic when it's not. Who knows?
The bottom line, and most important thing, is that this book (and the first True Haunting) are excellent books, and present this subject matter in a very believable and straight forward way. It was highly enjoyable, and that is the most important thing. If years from now, Ed comes out and says that he made the whole thing up, I would still feel like this is a worthwhile book for sheer reading pleasure.
My only criticism is that in several chapters, there is some repetition. An idea will be written, and then one or two sentences later, the exact same idea is repeated in same or similar terms. A few times I felt like "yeah, you just said that." Minor complaint, but something a pro editor would have caught (I would think.)
If you like stories of ghost and the paranormal, you will enjoy this book (and especially the first).

A DEFINITE MUST HAVE BOOK FOR ANY PARANORMAL INTERESTED PERSON!

Very intense, page turner for sure. I loved True Haunting, but hearing Marshas side of the situation in book 2 makes it even more real. While reading you can accually feel what the Beckers went through, you feel as if you are there. I really hope and pray this becomes a movie, it would be 2016s VERY BEST FILM!

an excellent follow up to True Haunting

Finally, the sequel I've been waiting for: an excellent follow up to True Haunting, which I recommend reading first to lay all the groundwork. This is the story told in Marsha's perspective, and it's no less chilling. I enjoy a good ghost tale, and this one doesn't disappoint. I'd suggest leaving at least one light on in the house while reading!

Find out what happened in the Campbell Street house.

It is best to read the True Haunting before reading this one but be sure to read them both. This book tells of the how the Campbell Street house slowly destroyed several lives and what it is like to live in a haunted house. I have met Marsha Becker and could hear her voice speaking the words on the pages.

"a fascinating chronicle"

Edwin Becker’s books are always well written and ‘True Haunting 2’ is no exception. It is a fascinating chronicle of experiences that the Beckers had in their haunted home in Chicago in 1970, and it is quite an eye opener. In the book they describe how (unlike these days), 'guidance' as to how to deal with a haunting was nowhere to be found in 1970. Ed and Marsha had to manage to tough it out until they could move to another home, and it all makes for a great read. Also, the information in this book comes at a very good time, as the paranormal is often represented in TV shows in an irresponsible way - as a kind of sport (ghosthunting). As you will read in ‘True Haunting 2’, a haunting can have serious consequences. I highly recommend this very helpful and fascinating book.

Fantastic Book!

I just finished reading True Haunting 2. It is a great follow-up to True Haunting, which must be read first to truly appreciate True Haunting 2. Ed's perspective on the haunting is very different than Marsha's, and the experiences both of them dealt with are fascinating. The escalation of activity is insidious, and I give both of them credit that they survived it with both their relationship and sanity intact. Others were not so lucky. I think it was very brave of them to bring their story to the public in the hopes of helping others. I couldn't put it down!

Great story!

Another great book. I enjoyed reading this book as well. Interesting follow up to "True Hauntings". I prefer non-fiction books, they are more personal and here you get to know what the Beckers and their tenant experienced on a personal level.

True Haunting 2 review

This is a must read if you have already read Mr Becker's "True Haunting". "TH 2" is a perfect companion to the first book as it describes the happenings from Mr Becker's wife's and their tenants' points of view and their own personal experiences. It have me chills and I hope it serves as a lesson about what can happen when you invite the dead into your lives. Great read! Buy both books!
