Description

Praise for Trackers : ''An action-packed riff on the EMP apocalypse, but one that gut-punches full-scale war and great characters; everything from North Korean soldiers to Cheyenne Mountain to Cherokee cannibal legends. The first book in a new adventure that seems set to grow in scale and excitement!'' --Matthew Mather, Bestselling author of Cyberstorm ''A high-altitude nuclear EMP strike remains one of the least understood, most devastating threats facing industrialized society. It would benefit every American to read this book if for no other reason than to understand how this asymmetric attack could cripple the world's greatest superpower.'' --Dr. Arthur Bradley, bestselling author of Disaster Preparedness for EMP Attacks and Solar Storms and The Survivalist ''Nicholas Sansbury Smith reboots the post-apocalyptic genre with Trackers, a carefully plotted, skillfully written, and exquisitely paced novel that combines the best elements of the post-apocalyptic genre with a gripping suspense.'' --Steve Konkoly, USA Today bestselling author of the Perseid Collapse ''Just when you thought the post-apocalyptic genre had lost its power to entertain, along comes ''Trackers''. xa0It begins with an unapologetic raid in North Korea and only picks up momentum from there. xa0Smith is a master world builder, who takes the familiar and makes it seem new, fresh, and exciting. It's wonderful blend of military sci-fi, political intrigue, and dystopian fiction.'' --Tom Abrahams, bestselling author of The SpaceMan Chronicles Nicholas Sansbury Smith is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Hell Divers series, the Orbs series, the Trackers series, the Extinction Cycle series, and the new Sons of War series. He worked for Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management in disaster mitigation before switching careers to focus on storytelling. When he isn't writing or daydreaming about the apocalypse, he enjoys running, biking, spending time with his family, and traveling the world. He is an Ironman triathlete and lives in Iowa with his wife, their dogs, and a house full of books.

Profanity Galore!.

Trackers 1 and 2: Profanity Galore!

First of all I want to say that the author is correct about the grids going down in the future of the United States, causing tremendous damage and chaos. I had listened to the audio cds of One
Second After many years ago and found it very realistic and fascinating. The sequels, One Year After and The Final Day, were equally good. I was hoping that Trackers 1 and 2 on audio cd would also be informative about the grids going down, plus the aftermath. However, I found both books to be PROFANITY GALORE! Not only were the names of God and Jesus profaned, but both books are also peppered with every foul word known to mankind.

Also, the continual demonic cannibalism in book 1 was totally ridiculous and unnecessary. As a writer, myself, I would think that narratives of the terrible things that will happen when the grids DO go down would be enough to write about, let alone such foolish subjects as demonic cannbalism. Do not bother with these books.

NOTE: To the critic of my review: You said that all of the books on EMP attacks have profanity. Let me add that this is not true. I wrote that in the "One Second After" series, it is very mild. Also, I just finished the three books in the "After the EMP" Series by Harley Tate, and her foul language was also very mild. I am just ready to start the trilogy, "EMP Aftermath" by John Winchester, so I will see how he does. Here is my main complaint about "Trackers" (that I already mentioned): The author uses the name of God and Jesus in vain. I have been a practicing Christian for 52 years and firmly believe in the Ten Commandments. "Thou shalt not take the name of thy Lord God in vain, for God will not hold him guiltless who taketh His name in vain." There is another verse in the Bible that says, "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth." Hearing or seeing God's name profaned is, to me, like hearing scratching on a blackboard with fingernails. I have noticed that on SOME of the EMP books, the reviews say, "Adult Language". I would suggest that those words be added to both Trackers 1 and 2.
