Description

Review “A gorgeously written novel that has all the elements of terrific historical fiction: adventure, romance, danger, and an unforgettable heroine, as well as a unique and beautifully depicted setting―in this case, the breathtaking, untamed terrain of the Yukon during the Klondike Gold Rush. I can’t recommend it enough!” ―Jane Healey, author of the Washington Post bestselling novel The Beantown Girls “Cancel your plans! Toward the Midnight Sun kept me reading half the night. Beginning with an epic journey through a pristine yet savage wilderness, and set against the backdrop of the mighty gold rush, Anna, Will, and Silas’s adventure comes to a dramatic crescendo that almost stopped my heart. Fine storytelling, well researched, a triumph of the human spirit. I am certain that readers will love Dempsey’s new book.” ―Ella Carey, bestselling author of The House by the Lake About the Author Eoin Dempsey is the author of the Amazon Charts bestselling novel White Rose, Black Forest as well as Finding Rebecca and The Bogside Boys . Worth A Read.

This was a very entertaining read. I don't know much about the history of Dawson City, (I see there are many reviews that mention it's not historically accurate.) yet I was still captivated by the plot and the characters.

This book brought me out of a month long reading slump and I am grateful for it. There is drama, romance, adventure, grief, betrayal, everything you could possibly want in a book. I went in with the mindset of not criticizing the writing or the plot since this was a fun read for me, so I can't speak much on that.

Another thing to address, I see a lot of reviews mentioning "a disturbing (or graphic) sex scene", but I didn't read through one that was disturbing. ****SPOILER**** Yes, Anna sees Bradwell with Betsy, but it's so brief. Then the moment between her and Will was more brief and beautiful than "disturbing". The one with Silas was more just to the imagination, so I'm not sure if I read a different book from everyone else.

Overall, five stars.
