Three Bodies Burning: The Anatomy of an Investigation into Murder, Money, and Mexican Marijuana

In a world full of CSI, NCIS, and Law&Order (all good shows), people tend to start believing that that's the way things work. A crime occurs, and within days or a few weeks, the crime is solved, we know all the who's, why's, how's, where's and such, and the bad guy gets his comeuppance. That's not the way things work in the real world, and these shows take away from recognizing how much work it really takes to solve a crime and how important our law enforcement professionals really are. "Three Bodies Burning" really illustrates how much work goes into solving a complex homicide case, and Brian's clear and to the point style really keeps the pages turning. He takes you step by step through the process, adds just the right amount of explanation for non-law enforcement people (like myself), and just the right amount of detail. Once I started reading, I didn't want to stop, and even neglected my homework once or twice because I just had to know what happened next! And best of all, the good guys won and the bad guys got put where they belong. I highly recommend this book.

I've read a lot of crime novels (Lee Child, John Sandford, Lisa Scottoline, Karin Slaughter), but nothing fictional compares to the real deal. This detective/author tracked down cold-blooded killers. Nothing is made up. He didn't have to embellish a thing. This is a thrill ride.

After recieving my signed copy of this book, it didnt take me long to sit down and read it cover to cover. I grew up with Brian and his family and know how dedicated he is in every endeavor. I remember when he decided to be a cop and knew he would be a complete success. Everything in this book is absolutely the facts, and once you start reading, you cant't put it down. Congrats buddy!

Wow! What an amazing and adventurous mystery! The pictures and personal information really brought this investigation to life. I recommend this book to those who enjoy murder mysteries and those who do not because it inspires an attitude of never giving up hope and increases the awareness of fate. Brian, I thank you for making to time to write this book to educate the many readers on the levels of rigor and research a 21st Century detective has to operate to ensure that justice continues to be served. I wish you well in your efforts to make this mystery a movie.

Our book club read this & we all agreed that it was one of our favorites. This non-fiction tells the tale of a complicated crime (both narcotics and a triple murder) investigation in a way we could follow without getting bogged down in the many thousands of pages of investigation. From discovery of the crime to the start of the federal trial, Bogdanoff led the investigation for the Omaha Police Dept. The perpetrators are in federal prisons because of his meticulous police work. The story is well written in easy-to-read journalistic style. A quick read with touches of real-world police dept. humor.

I met the author who I purchased the book from at the Omaha airport, and he signed it as well. Interesting, easy read. Puts the process in persepctive, unlike what you see on TV. Who needs fiction when real life is crazier!

If you enjoy true crime/murder cases then this is a must read. A story about a brutal triple murder/narcotic case in small town Omaha, Nebraska. Incredibly fascinating to see how the layers of story unfold.

Such an amazing book, extremely suspenseful. The author is such an interesting person to talk to!
