Not complete

I enjoyed this book until the end which abruptly stopped. My feeling is that to actually end this story the author needed at least one more chapter to bring it to completion. Why she didn't make that effort will always be a mystery along with several other loose ends that exist within this tale.

Cute but the plot is tired

Sure, Marcy Singer is a likable main character. Unfortunately, the plot is tired--single gal who has her own business is torn between two men (a la Joanne Fluke's Hannah Swensen) and somehow finds herself in the middle of a series of murders. The thing that really got me was the ending...it took an entire book to build suspense and then *wham* the book ended without so much as coming full circle on the love triangle...we knew Marcy was going with one fellow while the other ended up taking someone else to the masquerade ball, but nothing was ever said about him or his date. Perhaps the editor nixed some copy...whatever the case...the ending was lame.

Dropped

I read the first and second books in this series and enjoyed them. So, I was nearing the end of Thread Reckoning and anticipating a well-written ending. What a let down. Suddenly, the story dropped into a super fast close that left the reader, me, wondering what hit. Did the author run out of time to complete the book and just slap this on? If an author spends so much time writing a really good book, why would she not work to finish with an ending suitable to her abilities.

Well Written, But . . .

I enjoy Amanda Lee's writing. Her characters are likable, and I enjoy meeting them again in every new book. That being said, the plot in this one was a little forced. Marcy took chances to solve the murder that reasonable people wouldn't take. She didn't really have a horse in the race that would make her work so hard to solve the murder. She barely knew the people involved. She comes off as a bit of a busy-body.

Her two boyfriends are both nice men, but I have trouble thinking that it is so hard to know which is THE ONE. I hope that suspense isn't dragged out over too many more books.

A Good Read

This was a fun read that I could not put down. This book moved at a good pace as the mystery kept me riveted to the pages. With a small town feel; great dialogue, and a lovable cast, this was a great read and I look forward to more adventures in this wonderfully-crafted and entertaining series.

pleasantly quick-paced and pretty good suspense

This book is part of a continuing series that features Marcy, owner of an embroidery store in a small town, who has the unfortunate bad luck of coming upon dead bodies. It's not necessary to read the series in order; in fact, this one seems like the best one so far to me, so perhaps it's worth starting here. The negative, which is a big one for some reviewers, is the abrubt ending. I didn't find it quite as objectionable as some readers did, but it was certainly a bit sudden. Not all loose ends were resolved, especially the love interest, but in my view that's OK. Some films end that way too, and we simply know there will be a sequel. In that case, I'd suggest reading this one before the next installment comes out, because it will be helpful to have the background about the two men who are interested in Marcy. The embroidery information is interesting to have. I thought the Irish wolfhound, Angus, who is so prominently pictured on the cover, could have provided readers with a little more amusement; he's mentioned a lot but only for the basics of life, not for any special personality. All in all, the book is a good and quick read that builds some suspense, despite its slightly disappointing ending.

Good Read

Another good book by this author. Fast and relaxing, a good book for taking along when you travle, or for the waiting room. The characters are well rounded and the plot has just enough twists to keep it interesting. A fun and easy read.
