Features & Highlights

  • Filled with intense and important friendships, a wonderful warts-and-all family, shiveringly good romance, and sharp, witty dialogue, this story from Emma Mills (
  • First & Then
  • ) is about finding the people you never knew you needed.
  • Sloane isn’t expecting to fall in love with a group of friends when she moves from New York to Florida―especially not a group of friends so intense, so layered with private tragedies and secret codes, so all-consuming. Yet that’s exactly what happens. And it will lead her (and, um, her dad) on a life-changing adventure. Sloane becomes closest to Vera, a social-media star who lights up any room, and Gabe, Vera's twin brother and the most serious person Sloane's ever met. When a beloved painting by the twins' late mother goes missing, Sloane takes on the responsibility of tracking it down, a journey that takes her across state lines―and ever deeper into the twins' lives.

I love Emma Mills!!

All of the stars!!!!

"There's not a universe in which I wouldn't want to talk to you."

This is where I began to shed tears. The friendships are so real and honest and everyone should have people in their life like this! I think I shed my tears from this point to about this point......

"Maybe there are people who love someone so much that when they lose them, they never want to be with anyone else again. But maybe there are people who love someone so much that it makes them want to find love again. Maybe they loved them so much, they can't live without that kind of love in their life. And maybe... it's a kind of love where you don't have to say it. Where they're such a part of you and you're such a part of them that it doesn't need to be said. Because they already know."

This might be my favorite Emma Mills' book! I'm now all caught up on her writing and I can't wait for more!

Fun Read About Friends

This Adventure Ends by Emma Mills is about a group of friends and how they help each other. Vera and Gabe are twins whose mother painted until she died. Remy is Gabe’s best friend, Tash and Aubrey are Vera’s best friends Frank is a wealthy friend who likes to party. Sloane is a new friend who gets attention when she embarrasses the bully who was picking on Gabe at a party. Sloane’s dad is a teen romance writer who has writer’s block but gets inspiration from his daughter’s life. When one of the paintings gets sold that Gabe wanted to keep, Sloane decides to track it down for him and get it back.

This is an okay read if you like a bit of teen drama with a bit of romance. Of course, one of the relationships tossed in were a couple lesbians, but that was just a small part of the book. Overall, I thought the dialogue was well done but would have preferred less foul language. I liked how it ended and enjoyed the main characters.
