You don't have to be "a creative" to appreciate this advice.

This book is listed as life advice for "creatives" but I think that the book does a wonderful job not letting this subtitle or audience box it in. I am not a "traditional creative" but I still felt like so much of the advice was extremely applicable to both my work life and personal endeavors. Furthermore, the fact that each page can be torn out and hung up, given away, etc. is just a great little bonus. The modest price tag doesn't hurt its appeal either...

Inspiration when you need it

I loved this author’s “Pick Me Up” journal so I pre-ordered this book and I’m glad I did! There’s great advice and inspiration in here to read through, or skip to what you need when you need it. The pages are perforated so you can pull them out and display them but I don’t know if I can bring myself to do that!

It's OK.

Pretty, fluffy, and kind of useless.

A treat for any creative creature

"Delightful collection of encouragement, understanding, and simplified, actionable advice that will be comforting to creatives in all stages of their lives and careers. Pushes you to challenge yourself and evolve, keeps it real and minimizes b.s., and understands the low points without invalidating them - just like you wish a good friend would. Freelance life can feel kind of lonely but I'm really glad to have this book as my new advisor & cheerleader."

Things Are What You Make of Them is SO important ...

Things Are What You Make of Them is SO important to me as a designer and design director. The sentiments in this book feel so personal yet so universal, and that's comforting. Knowing that what I am feeling is felt by others but also being able to tear and share a perforated page means so much to me.

I haven't seen a book like this before.

While notes of positivity and a general spirit of love and support are relatively common (not tf enough, though!), Things Are What You Make of Them stands alone in its brazen effort to let you empower yourself and those around you. You can and SHOULD tear out the pages along the perforated edges and share them with your friends, partners, workmates, sisters. Frame them, stick them in mirrors, use them as bookmarks for bigger books that require bookmarks. Really, really beautiful book.

Adam J. Kurtz Tells Me Stuff and it’s Great

The perfect little book that inspires me, moves me, and makes me feel human. My favorite line is, “You are kind of an idiot, but it’s going to be okay.” That probably needs context to understand... so get the book and find out!
