Excellent pick for children

I recently bought this book for two of my students aged 7 and 12 for their very first theory lessons. Both of them found it really interesting. In my opinion, the lessons are presented in a well organized manner, and made it even exciting with various illustrations and "Fun Sheets".
I'll recommend this theory book for any child who is willing to start music.

great and fun basic theory book

I use these theory time books all the time as supplemental material. kids like them a lot. Theory can be hard to grasp and these books make theory more fun to learn with activities like word searches, crossword puzzles and fun note spellers. Highly recommend for any music teacher!

Missing half the book...

The book I received skips from pages 13-44, but it repeats the pages that it does have twice. Basically, it only goes up to Lesson 5 and then the last part of the book. I had no idea because the thickness seems like a normal book, but as I started grading my daughter's work, I noticed the duplicate pages. Very weird... I've bought many Theory Time books over the years and this was the first time this ever happened.

Great for the beginner

My 7yo son is gaining a better understanding of music theory. He's been in guitar lessons for a few months now & his instructor, pleased with his rapid progress, wanted him to do some theory work over the summer. This is the book he recommended to us. Moves at a good pace, offers reinforcement of prior lessons with each subsequent lesson. A good first book of theory. (plus, since he is working with the guitar, this gives him the added benefit of some beginning understanding of piano/keyboard)

Great way to get kids excited about theory

I teach my own daughter piano and she has really gotten into learning theory through this book. She always looks forward to doing exercises and works independently through it. I am so glad that I found this series!

The book is also pretty thin and the pages are crammed with information which ...

I was surprised at how difficult this book was. I expected it to be more basic, but it was way too hard for my 4th grader. The book is also pretty thin and the pages are crammed with information which make it overwhelming. There isn't enough explanation to help a child understand what to do. Very disappointing. I was looking for something my son could do on his own.

Miss more than half of the book!!!

There is no possible way to contact the seller on this so I'm leaving a review. I saw this happened to someone else too. It stops on page 12 and pages 13-43 are MISSING, then goes from 44-57, then repeats 44-57 again. Now my son's piano teacher needs him to go on with his theory and I have to probably buy from somewhere again, upset about this, i should've checked when I got it but I didn't think to since it felt like a full booklet.

Very Clear and simple

Instructions are simple to understand. This book has helped my son to memorize all of the white keys, treble/base notes, high and low sounds and the list goes on. Great book after the Primer Theory Time book.

Great book for adults and kids!!!

I took band in middle and part of high-school, this book breaks everything to the very basics and makes it very easy to understand after spending just one hour on this book I already feel more comfortable reading music. It is written for a child but that makes it easier for an adult.
