Description

Since putting out his first book: Eye of the Moonrat in May of 2012, Trevor H. Cooley has sold over 130,000 copies of his books through Kindle. He was born in South Carolina and has lived all around the United states, including Utah, New Mexico, Michigan and Tennessee. His love of reading started in the second grade with Lloyd Alexander's Chronicles of Prydain series. He couldn't get enough and continued with David Eddings, Tolkein, Robert Jordan, Stephen King, and many others. Since then, all he wanted was to become a published writer. The characters and concepts that eventually became the Bowl of Souls series started in his teens. He wrote short stories, kept notebooks full of ideas, and generally dreamed about the world constantly. There were several attempts at starting a novel over the years. Not long after he was married, his wife told him to stop talking about the story and write it down. Many years and rewrites and submissions and rejection letters later, he finally put the books on Amazon. The Bowl of Souls series is: THE MOONRAT SAGABook One: Eye of the Moonrat Book 1.5: Hilt's Pride Book Two: Messenger of the Dark Prophet Book Three: Hunt of the Bandham Book Four: The War of Stardeon Book Five: Mother of the MoonratTHE JHARRO GROVE SAGABook Six: Tarah WoodbladeBook Seven: Protector of the GroveBook Eight: The Ogre ApprenticeBook Nine: The Troll King (2015)

Good Story, but could be better

I have read all of the "moonrat" books so far and I still very much enjoy the story. The characters are likeable and the story is interesting. I gave "Hunt of the Bandham" four stars. So why the drop off in my opinion? Well in one word - Frustration. This is the fourth book, yet we still do not know the full capabilities of the main hero. We don't know about his wizard powers, which were non-existent in this book. We still have very little knowledge about the frost rune on his chest and the changes the hero can make to his bonded were not adequately explored. In addition, I noticed a large amount of editing errors. This usually doesn't bother me, but the abundance of errors made me take notice.

Would I recommend this series to someone else? My answer is not just yes, but HELL YEAH :) Even with all of the above issues, the series is very good and the issues can be overlooked. Can't wait until the 5th book, but not expecting to learn all there is to know about Sir Edge.

The War Begins

Trevor H. Cooley has done another magnificent job with this book. With each edition of this series the story continues to grow and get better. I love the character of Ewzad Vrill his mannerisms are quite creapy and he is quite evil. Justin has made the transformation to Sir Edges and is learning what it means to be a named warrior and a named wizard. There are quite a few things that happen in this book that I would love to share but I would give away too much of the story so I wont ruin the fun for you. If you have read the other books in the "Bowl of Soul" series than you need to read this, if you have not then you need to buy "Eye of the Moonrat" and start from there. As always Enjoy.

And more training.....STOP with the training already

This is the 4th book in the series in this one we have the characters starting to move toward a conclusion but we also get you guessed it more training.

Good
1: Characters are still fun and again the dialogue keeps getting better.
2: The diverse groups are getting together finally we can have one story line for a few chapters.
3: We get one scene where Justin actually fights alone and he actually wins. I had my doubts we never see how well he spars against good opponents we have no idea if he is even good with those swords. He never used the damn things.
4: The love triangle was handled well and was resolved big thanks to the author on this for not hanging it till the end.

Bad
1: Stop the training. Seriously just stop it we have one book to go with this character lets actually have a character who is not being trained by someone.
2: Still no elemental magic we have one shield. He does learn how to make Gwyrtha bigger and armored but that is about it.
3: We have two sword fights. Is he even any good with those things?

Overall
At this point I would expect him to be fully fleshed out as a character and ready to take on the big bad instead we have a character with crippled magic and an unknown fighting ability. I will of course read the next one as I have already read the last 4.5 but I am 50/50 on my hope for some good epic moments.

Unable to put down

Love this series!! As a reader during my commute, this series captivates you in the story and caused me to miss my stop...twice. Even at home I could not function till I had read every book in the series. To call it a page turner would be an understatement. Original, great story. So looking forward for the next book in this series.
