Description

About the Author Diana graduated from Durham University with a degree in geography but after a short spell in teaching, has spent most of her working life in the business of tennis development. A former Irish International player, tennis has always been a great passion. Having finally stepped off the tennis court, Diana has become a full-time writer. The inspiration for much of her work has come through coaching tennis to hundreds of ladies over the years and from the intimate confidences shared over coffee. She has met, observed and listened to women trapped in loveless marriages, abusive relationships and in the grip of obsessive love… although she does admit that no one has yet shared a personal murder story! Her novels tackle the dark side of obsessive relationships. 4 Riverside Close is a psychological thriller set in the claustrophobic confines of a North London cul-de-sac. An online dating site sucks bored residents into a sinister web of seedy manipulation from which there is no escape. Her second novel is called You Are Mine. When her lover disappears, Julia fears she will never find out what happened. However, ten years later, a night at the cinema reveals her search is over. Diana currently lives in Hitchin in Hertfordshire with her family.

Solid Read

Thank you Bloodhound Books for a copy of this great read! Review is all my own!

What happens when a group of friends holds a recurring trivia night via online Zoom and one of the members tries to spice it up with a questionnaire about the other members and their secrets of secrets? How far would you go to keep your secret safe? I liked the twists and I liked the story line behind each character and how the author tied it all up. What I didn’t like was the way the men treated women and how they were OK with it. Like one man was married and dating one of the girls and the girl was OK with it and being lied to, even when she caught him she made excuses for it. There was no big sudden surprise at the end but it did wrap up nicely.

This book was good but had a couple of confusing points to me, not that it stopped my enjoyment and quite frankly I might have missed the reasoning but I was confused on why they were having Zoom Game nights when it was stressed the pandemic kept everything locked down (reason for the Zoom games) But the next chapter they would be going to bars with masks and social distancing so not sure why they couldn’t do that with book club. BUT again I may have missed something!

Good solid 3 stars I would recommend it and maybe dip into more works by this author.

Too Many Metaphors

This book was very suspensful and kept me guessing

But it was laced with far too many metaphors. They were poorly written and very distracting from the actual storyline.

But I do want to thank Bloodhound Books for the opportunity to read this boov.

Don't give up

This was a slow starter for me with a dangling of promise so I kept reading and I am glad I did. The fact that it takes place during the current pandemic situation made the story relatable and the characters were quite the hodge podge group which made it an even more fun read. There was enough suspense and a bit of a twist to balance out the romance in it for me. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

Interesting

Thank you Bloodhound books for the advanced copy. I have tried to get into her books in the past and had a hard time. While the cover drew me in, parts of this book fell flat for me. I enjoyed the different characters, their development, and their secrets, but it was hard to go from being in lockdown to being at the bar the next chapter? Seemed unrealistic to me. I have to say the cause of death made the book! Not bad but not the best for me.

Very Enjoyable Story

I really enjoyed this book. 6 people who are all intertwined by friendships meet every Friday night for a Zoom trivia quiz during quarantine. One of the guests is murdered shortly after asking questions that are extremely personal to the others. The story is told mostly through the point of view of journalist Kristi as she tries to figure out which of the guests is the killer. Highly recommend.
