God what a Fantastic series, bring on book 3!

Book 2 in Gregg Hurwitz’s Outstanding Orphan X series, The Nowhere Man is exceptional and Scott Brick’s narration definitely adds to the enjoyment. In this installment the audience will see Evan bared to his soul and learn more about his previous life in the Orphan program and his double life now as Evan Smoak and The Nowhere Man. The action is unmatched both in its depravity and its creativity and listeners will ooh and ah at the ingenious ways Evan stays alive. There are some really big AH-HA moments in this novel that will have the audience both wanting it to end so they can rush into book 3 but also wanting time to slow so they can enjoy every exciting moment and every unforgettable character. Speaking of characters Gregg gives his fans some truly evil doers and delves deeper into what makes Evan tick. There are also some characters that go with the ah-ha moments mentioned earlier that will help fill in all the blank plot dots. Fans of this series, black ops and non-stop action will not be able to pull out their earbuds.

Narration:
Scott Brick IS Evan Smoak, his rough gravely voice gives Evan that secretive, mysterious aura and his ability to bring the story to life by expressing the right emotion at just the right time is unequalled. He also plays a mean bad guy and a believable good guy.

After going rogue from the clandestine, deep black ops government organization, The Orphan Program, Evan Smoak has made himself a ghost and devoted his life to helping those who have nowhere else to turn by turning himself into the Nowhere Man. But now Evan finds himself the one in need of help when he falls into the trap of a sadistic man who wants Evan not for his assassin services but for his bank account. Evidently the man doesn’t know who Evan is so that’s an advantage but Evan’s afraid he might have been put into a cage that’s escape proof. So now Evan has to dig deep into his bag of tricks and hope one of them holds the key to this lock.

Outstanding Series!

Evan Smoak continues to help those that urgently need his help. From the age of 12 years, he was trained by an intelligence unit of the United States. He was trained to be an assassin. A role that eventually was replaced by drones. He wanted out. He disappeared and now he helps others.

Evan has been in so many situations that did not look good for him. Yet, he always accomplished the mission and escaped. Perhaps not this time. He is captured by an unknown group. He is simply overwhelmed by the force against him. He is drugged and moved to a chateau, believed initially to be in Europe. He is treated well. He is locked up, but in a room with luxury. He is fed well. He is provided with a beautiful naked woman, should he desire. Who are these people?

Soon he learns. The man in control found out about millions that Evan had in a Swiss bank account. He wants the money. If Evan wires the money to this man, he will be released, or so says the man. Evan knows better than that. Evan knows he must escape. Escape, however, looks impossible. Yet he has no option. He must try.

“The Nowhere Man” is the second Orphan X novel by author Gregg Hurwitz. It was published in January, 2017. There are eight in the series. This reader, unfortunately began with the third in the series and now has finished the first two novels. It would be helpful for new readers to the series to begin in the order they were published. Most certainly is this an exciting series!
