  • The New Mediterranean Diet Cookbook
  • is your guidebook to the ultimate superdiet, an evidence-based keto diet that emphasizes a diversity of fish, healthy fats, and a rainbow of colorful vegetables—with 100 delicious recipes for everything from snacks to dinner.
  • The
  • Mediterranean diet
  • has long been touted as one of the world’s healthiest diets,
  • renowned for its protective effects against heart disease, cancer, and other chronic illnesses
  • . However, its heavy inclusion of grains and carbohydrates can contribute to obesity and is a drawback for many. Also shown to have many health benefits, the
  • ketogenic diet stimulates the fat-burning and longevity-promoting state of ketosis
  • by limiting carbs and emphasizing high-fat foods. While the keto diet is about the proportion of macronutrients (fats, protein, carbohydrates) in the food you eat, the Mediterranean diet is about specific food types: seafood, olive oil, colorful vegetables, and other anti-inflammatory foods. This book is about living and
  • eating at the intersection of these complementary diets
  • so you can
  • reap the benefits of both
  • . While both diets advocate significant amounts of healthy fats and protein, the new Mediterranean approach to keto significantly shifts the fat profile of the diet to emphasize the monounsaturated and omega-3 fats that health experts agree promote living a long disease-free life. It also includes colorful vegetables, providing a diversity of nutrients and flavor. The result is an enhanced Mediterranean diet that
  • stokes metabolism, supports the gut and microbiome
  • , and is
  • anti-inflammatory
  • ,
  • anti-aging
  • , and
  • nutrient-dense
  • . Improve your overall health while enjoying delectable dishes including:

Love it!

I preordered back in November and received my copy about a week ago. After the long wait, I can truly say it was worth it. I tried the pouched salmon recipe, which I substituted for wild caught trout, and let me just say it was delicious! My family loved it! I can’t wait to try the other recipes.

Eating Healthy and Enjoying These Recipes

If ever there was a time to explore a new cookbook, this is the time. I have been the chief cook in my house since last March, and honestly, I have run out of new ideas. Especially healthy ones, and not just making pasta, again. While I don't personally follow a strict Mediterranean or Keto diet, what I do want is healthy, non-processed food that tastes good too. You will find all that and more in this cookbook, and if you do want to learn more about the science behind eating certain foods, that is here too. So many cookbooks claim to have nutritional recipes, yet provide very little information to back up those claims. What I appreciated most were the detailed nutritional information and the gorgeous pictures. I didn't have to Google a similar recipe to see how it should look, and I have run into that with so many other cookbooks.

There are sections for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, soup and salads, and desserts. I was extremely happy to have some new ideas, and a few of my favorites so far are the Superfood Omelet, Eggplant Manicotti, and the Wild Mushroom Chicken Risotto. A very informative book whether you want to change your whole diet, or just make some changes and make it healthier.

I received a DRC from Quarto Group Publishing – Fair Winds Press through NetGalley.

a keeper!

Almost missed choosing this book. The "keto friendly" portion of the title gets lost in the cover. This key point was why I chose the book. We have been clean, nutrient dense keto for 3+ years. We eat a more paleo-fied version of keto.

The intro do the book has some great information on oils and such. I actually learned a few new things.

The recipe book has everything one would seemingly want with a cookbook. Ingredient & instructions set out in a manner that is visually appealing and easy to understand. There are photos for a good percentage of the recipes and also a nutritional breakdown.

Things I want tot try:
crunchy vanilla protein bars
savory granola bars
5 superfood salmon brain bowl
meatball zoodle bolognese
green veg & macadamia smash
nordic stone age bread
halva protein slices
lemon coconut cake

Making a new shopping list right now! I actually like very few "keto" cookbooks. Many of them subscribe to an "anything goes" keto ... as long as you stay in ketosis it is ok. It is refreshing to see a clean version cookbook, one aimed at health not just weight loss. That is the standpoint we do keto for. Weight loss is nice, but if you eat clean all the time, your body just feels better.

Overall, this cookbook is a winner and a keeper on my bookshelf.

Nice variations

I was curious when I selected "The New Mediterranean Diet Cookbook: The Optimal Keto-Friendly Diet that Burns Fat, Promotes Longevity, and Prevents Chronic Disease (Keto for Your Life, 16)" but on receiving the book, I realized it wasn't quite for me. I gave to a family member who lives near stores that make the ingredients easier to find plus he actually follows a keto-diet so I thought it would be more fair for him to take a look.

First off, he likes the variations for the keto-friendly. Second, he does think that some recipes will be a challenge on the budget but if you stock the pantry for basics (ex: almond flour), it will seem less of a bite. He did say it is like any cookbook in that he found some recipes that he liked and others that were not to his taste. However, the instructions are easy to follow. It was worthwhile to try it out.

Highly recommend!

This book is not an ordinary cook book, it actually explains very clearly why it makes so much sense to eat this way. I enjoy reading the explanations and have been having fun making the recipes. Thank you so much for this fantastic book!

Easy it is to follow, and the pictures are beautiful

The New Mediterranean Diet Cookbook: The
Optimal Keto-Friendly Diet that Burns Fat,
Promotes Longevity, and Prevents Chronic
Disease (Volume 16) (Keto for Your Life, 16)

This New Mediterranean Diet Cookbook, has become my new favorite cookbook this year. I love
how easy it is to follow and the pictures are beautiful and inviting. The recipes are really well
thought out and easy. I think this is one of the easiest recipe cookbooks I’ve owned. The food is
delicious and none of it feels like I’m on any kind of a diet. In fact, my whole family eats these
meals because they are nutritious and delicious. Five stars

Easy Recipes! Wonderful Photographs!

This cookbook really has it all! The first chapter is the educational portion of things, going into depth on the background of the main ingredients they use throughout the cookbook. Then, the rest of the book are very delicious, practical recipes! My wife particularly loves the “pesto five ways” recipe.

Most of the recipes don’t use many ingredients and almost all of the recipes have pictures which is helpful. The only complaint we have is some of the items are hard to find in a traditional grocery store and may need to be found in a specialty grocer. For instance, goats milk yogurt and halloumi cheese are difficult to find by us, however, most of the ingredients used in the recipes can easily be found in any grocer. Other than that, this cookbook is excellent.

Covers More than Just Italian

The Mediterranean Diet is more of a lifestyle than a dietary plan, based on the foods found in the Mediterranean region. Often, many people equate this with Italian, and while it does include Italian cuisines in the general grouping it is not limited to just Italian. This particular cookbook is a keto spin on the Mediterranean lifestyle, and so far I am pleased with it.

There's a little bit of everything in this cookbook - Italian, Greek, Spanish, northern African cuisine and more. This is a more generalized approach to Mediterranean cuisine and is more inclusive than most books I have seen on the subject. This is a good thing, as many Italian-centered cookbooks leave out a lot of wonderful foods that can be found in the region.

The recipes are based on traditional Mediterranean dishes but have a definite keto spin to them - where possible higher carb ingredients like flour have been replaced with nut or vegetable substitutes. There are a few unusual ingredients here and there but that is the exception more than the rule.

The recipes are designed to be reasonably easy to follow in most cases. I like the symbols used to mark the recipes with certain attrributes - dairy-free, nut-free, etc.

This cookbook is full of full-color photographs. Not every recipe has a picture but more than half do. What's particularly nice is that the photos are printed on glossy pages instead of on matte pages so they do not look like they came off an injet printer.

I like this cookbook and will be using it more in the coming months. It covers more of the Mediterranean region than most, it has easy-to-follow recipes and is full of photographs which make it easy to find good ideas for dinner.
