Description

A USA Today Bestseller An Illinois Monarch Award Master List Book Praise for The Magical Yet : “When children are old enough to do things on their own but are frustrated because they struggle with their nascent abilities, thisxa0enchantingxa0picture book introduces them to their limitless potential by way of Yet, that oh-so-important word that encourages them to have patience with themselves as they continue to keep trying.”xa0― Lacey Vorrasi-Banis , Entertainment Weekly “Oh, I love this one! This is a book about resiliency and how you might not be good at something... yet. The Magical Yet is by your side helping you as you learn and grow. The adorable illustrations feature a diverse group of children, but everyone will be able to see a little of themselves in this book because of the topic.” ― Kathleen Shea-Porter , Buzzfeed "With splashy artwork and catchy rhymes, the creators give families and educators a tool that spurs kids on to success."― Publishers Weekly "The depictions of difficult situations, such as learning to ride a bike, learning to dance, or practicing painting, are sure to strike a chord with children struggling to pick up something new, and the positive outcomes brought on by practice and perseverance are sure to inspire readers to never give up. A lovely addition to picture-book collections."― Booklist "The artwork is powerful and detailed....A solid if message-driven conversation starter about the hard parts of learning."― Kirkus Reviews "This rhyming, motivational picture book tackles the lesson of perseverance. It promotes trying new things and letting yourself fail along the way. With bright colorful, illustrations and an inspirational message, this 2021 picture book is a great substitute for Dr. Seuss’s popular Oh, the Places You’ll Go! "― Bookriot Angela Diterlizzi never forgets her Magical Yet, especially when she wrote more than ten drafts to get this book just right. She's written other books, too, including Just Add Glitter , Some Bugs , Some Pets , and Baby Love . She lives with her husband, best-selling author-illustrator Tony DiTerlizzi, and their daughter in Amherst, Massachusetts. Lorena Alvarez Gómez was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, and studied graphic design at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. She has illustrated for children's books (including the Carmen series by Anika Denise and Nightlights , a comic book that Lorena also wrote), independent publications, advertising, and fashion magazines. Since 2008, she has been part of La Procesión Puppet Club, an experimental puppetry group of illustrators and visual artists.

I love this book!

I love this book!!! I teach 2nd grade, and teach that “yet” is one of the most important words in all the world. I have found a few cute poems to introduce the concept, but this book will be perfect On the first day of school, and as a reminder throughout the year. I can’t wait to share it with my class!

Great book, grandkids love it

I love books that include characters of a multitude of races without making the story ABOUT race. Don't get me wrong, books that are about race and/or cultures are wonderful too. But don't kids of all skin tones deserve to see themselves (and others) in all kinds of different stories? It would be so great to find that more and more illustrators and authors of children's books realize that there should be children of all ethnicities in stories that are just plain fun stories for every kid.

Beautiful Art with an Equally Beautiful Message

I purchased this book for my 7 year old as part of our growth mindset unit. I'll be honest I had to weaned down to a couple choices and selected this one bc the illustrations are phenomenal. I was happy to see the message was well portrayed as well. My daughter made me read it with her 3 times the first night we had it! The personification of "yet" also leaves room for a fun art project, we each drew our own Magical Yets to help us out. 10/10

I teach second grade, and I read it on the first day. We are doing distance learning. Literally have not heard the end of it about this book.

I had to get one for myself!

I always borrowed my classroom neighbor’s copy, but I needed to refer to YET more often than not. I now have it handy for when kids get in a funk and need a quiet place to settle their perfectionist voice. Love the power and the message of YET!

Buy this book!

My daughter came home from school raving about this book. Being a single mom $17 for a children's book is a lot right now, however... BUY THIS BOOK! Every child in the world, even all the adults should have this book. Three little letters to change ones entire outlook on a struggle... Y. E. T. That's it... Just yet. Keep going because your yet is with you, always.

This author deserves high praise for this book and I'm so glad I bought it. Thank you for an amazing book we have already read countless times.

Great Classroom (or zoom) read aloud!

A wonderful book for younger ages about all that is yet to be accomplished. The potential inside and how never giving up can take us to our goals. I used this book in place of a Dr. Suess book as our end of the year book and my PreK class loved it!

Great message for adults and kids

I have read this book to my own kids (9 and 4 years old) and when I substitute teach K-3. It’s a great help in teaching a growth mindset. Kids love the illustrations and I love the message. We read it and talk about things we can do well and things we are not great at YET. I donated several copies to our school because I think the message is extremely important. I know I need to be reminded of it from time to time and my students definitely do.
