The MacArthur Daily Bible: Read the Bible in One Year, with Notes from John MacArthur

If you've committed to reach through the Bible once a year, as I have, you'll probably benefit from MacArthur's approach here. He's arranged the New King James Version into 365 daily readings. Each day features a selection from the Old Testament, Psalms, Proverbs and the New Testament. There's also an expository note based on that day's reading - that's the most distinctive feature of this resource. MacArthur is the gold standard for expositors as far as I'm concerned, so it's good news. I've used other reading programs that I like better, but this works just fine.

I received a copy of the MacArthur Daily Bible as a gift, and I have since gifted two other persons who are seeking a better understanding of the Bible. At first it was disarming to see the juxtaposition of Old and New Testaments on the same day, interspersed with verses from Psalms and Proverbs. Reading on a daily basis, I began to see the profound relationship between the old and new as "all history is on one plane". For me the principle of free will became apparent. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to [his] purpose." Romans 8:28

It's dated starting January 1st and I didn't start then, but it is still a very good managable amount to read per day. It has insightful notes from John Macarthur. I would recommend it to anyone.

Over the years I have made repeated attempts to read through the Bible from cover to cover. My discipline always broke down during Numbers/Deuteronomy. Each day of The MacArthur Daily Bible includes selections from the OT, NT, Psalms and Proverbs. Each day is very manageable and includes in-text notes and, at the end, a brief but thorough explanation of some aspect of that day's reading. For the first time ever, I am able to keep up with the reading. I am so glad this is available!

Very informative, easy to follow, thought provoking. Everyone should have one that thinks they are too busy for daily study. This bible makes it easy and eliminates that "I'm too busy excuse".

I have read the Bible all my life, but to read large portions in one sitting as well as a smattering of the Psalms and Proverbs along with the Old and New Testament gives one a much larger and more understandable picture. This Bible enables one to read the entire Bible through every year. There can be no better way to learn the heart of our Creator and how He designed us to function optimally in fellowship with Him. What a gift!

I have a couple of different daily Bibles and this is the best. John MacArthur's insights are practical and helpful both for understanding the context of the passage and for application in daily life. I would prefer NIV and a cover other than paperback for durability but overall the best daily Bible I have found.

The MacArthur Daily Bible starts each day with a chapter or two from the Old Testament, inspiration from Psalms and Proverbs, and a few verses or chapters from the New Testament. It's about 15 minutes to a half hour of reading time, but it is so interesting that you want to read more. Reading these excerpts start your day out right.
