Description

From Booklist In this presumably final book in the Lying Game series, which is dedicated to solving the murder of Sutton Mercer, Shepard does a fine job of building tension and laying believable red herrings along Emma’s route to identifying her twin’s killer. Teenage boys in this cycle continue to receive dramatic but well-earned reputations as violent and jealous (and jealously violent), but the family issues featuring the twins’ grandparents and Emma’s detective work are credibly and engagingly played out. There seems to be little of the Lying Game itself here, except when its notoriety leads authorities to dismiss a witness. This one can stand alone. Grades 8-10. --Francisca Goldsmith Praise for The Lying Game: “The Lying Game is a stay–up–past–your–bedtime type of thriller…full of amazingly believable plot twists and turns.” — Voice of Youth Advocates (VOYA) (starred review) “A thrilling mystery with just the right doses of romance and danger.” — School Library Journal “A fun and fast–moving mystery…[readers] will race through the pages as Emma pieces together clues and will have plenty to ponder as they anticipate the next installment.” — Publishers Weekly My sister wants the truth. But sometimes the truth hurts. For months, my long-lost twin, Emma, has been living my life and trying to solve my murder. She's unearthed dark secrets about my friends, my family, and my tangled past. But when it comes to finding my killer, she keeps running into dead ends. Until my body shows up in Sabino Canyon. Suddenly everyone knows there are two girls who look like Sutton Mercer—and that one of them is dead. At first the police assume the body is Emma's. But as questions and accusations start flying, it's harder than ever for Emma to keep playing me. The truth is bound to come out eventually. And when it does, Emma will be suspect number one in my murder investigation. If she can't find my killer before time runs out, she'll end up behind barsxa0.xa0.xa0. or worse. Amazing, Brillant! I loved this series, it just kept getting better and better!

At the start of the series, i considered this to be just another idea similar to Pretty Little Liars. It was compelling enough to finish but i stated that i was not sure i would continue to purchase countless books by Sara Shepard due to the similarity to PPL. I am TOTALLY hooked on her writing now!! I believe Sara had a bit of trouble getting the ball rolling with this series but once she did everything lined up so nicely, it was thrilling. I found it hard to put down, I began to feel like i knew the characters and that i was there. I felt tired and excited in the same; i just wanted to finish the series but then not, knowing i would miss the characters. I did guess the killer on my own, but i was really annoyed when i got on different site to rate Sara's book a 5 star, someone blurted out the killers name in lower case. Despite knowing the answer, this book had a lot of twists and turns, full of excitement! I still couldn't put it down. I love how the stars and family were tied into this series. I would hope that Sara could start another series of Emma's life after healing there is room for another series but i won't say why, you just have to read it! Sara, you have gained a life long reader and fan!

Predictable

I really like the Lying Game series, and Emma Paxton's character. It's just annoying when the murderer is SO PREDICTABLE. It kind of makes you think, jeez, I wish i hadnt spent $10 a book to find out what i already know. I think its a very lazy cop out when authors do stuff like that, and I think it's insulting to the readers intelligence. even though I knew who it would be, I thought surely, it cant be...that would be far too predictable! *sigh* I gave the author too much credit i guess.

I KNEW IT!

I knew who it was before I even reading this book. The fact that it was the person I suspected from the first book is a disappointment. The way the ending paned out was not. Even though it was predictable, I loved the book. I am giving this this three stars because its so predictable, I knew who the killer was from the very beginning, the author needs to learn how to better give clues without giving it all away. Other than that her writing is amazing.

Great mystery series for teens & adults.

I started reading this series, after the tv show was cancelled. I quickly learned that the books are very different from the show, and it was actually more interesting in some ways. A good read for teens and adults.

shattered my reality

Kudos Ms. Shepard. Just when I thought I knew what was going on and I knew there would be a new and different lead, you pour that bucket of ice water over me and send me into tear filled squeals. I never saw it coming, then again, neither did Sutton.... le sigh

I loved it

Amazing end to the series it lived up to everything I hoped it would be. She did a great job of revealing the murderer and making the book very suspenseful.
