The Light and the Glory

Here is a history through the filter and worldview of faith. Not everyone will agree with the author's, but their recounting of historical events is fascinating reading.

As expected, there is much patriotism in these pages, including quotes from early presidents and such (the book begins with Columbus and ends with the colonies forming The United States.)

Then from the Mayflower Compact; "We came here for the glory of God, and for the advancement of the gospel of Jesus Christ..."Whereas we all came into these parts with one and the same end and aim, namely to advance the kingdom of our lord Jesus Christ, and to enjoy the liberties of the gospel in purity and peace."

Again, this is a controversial period of history with much blood shed and racism. There are many interpretations of the events that surround these years, and strongly held beliefs on all sides. I find the importance of a book is in reading it, this one is well written and worth a read regardless of your own beliefs about history.

This is a wonderful teaching tool for American history without the political correctness injected. My 14 year old was opened up to many discussions and comparisons to her school history class. She even had her own history teacher clearly tell he that what the taught in school was error due to the political climate. Shock and dismay! Marshal and Manuel did a fine job. Starts out a bit slow, but picks up and is very enlightening.BRAVO!

Our Christian heritage. I read this book many years ago. Bought this copy for my grand daughter.... With all the revisionist history going on ...we need more books like this.

This may be an older publication, but it is timely for modern intercessors. What to pray for America? This book explains the Lord's original plan for America and traces His hand throughout our history. This is what the Lord wants for our country. It's achievable and within our reach. Find out what we can do to turn judgement away from our great land!

I am a citizen who is concerned about the direction our country is taking. Want a well researched review of our heritage? David Manual and Peter Marshall provide an in depth study of where our founding fathers beliefs were when our country was founded. I have devoured both "The Light and the Glory" and "From Sea to Shining Sea." For any Christian these books will provide such joy in reading what our fellow Americans went through in getting this nation started. A must read for anyone who thinks they 'know' how our founding fathers felt/believed and what drove their actions.

Gives truth about our countries beginning. Easy read. I have given copies to my family friends and neighbors for free.

An excellent book that is easy and enjoyable to read. If you want to know some truth behind the Judeo/Christian founding of this nation then I suggest this book along with others to help.

Well documented factual truth of our American history. Every American and those who desire to be Americans should read The Light and the Glory!
