But between fighting off zombies, fleeing from strange, glowy Vine-Thingies erupting from the ground, and squeezing in a video game session or two, there's barely time left to figure out what's wrong with their buddy, Dirk, who's been acting weird any time he's around the undead. When an unexpected villain appears, can Jack and his friends save themselves--and the rest of the world--from cosmic domination?Note: most illustrations are printed in black-and-white, with the occasional gray-and-white image.

Badly printed paged

My son loves this series, the only reason I gave it three stars is because several pages are printed so poorly that you can barely read them. I don't understand how they didn't notice it when they assembled the books.

My 8 years old son loves it so much

My 8-year old boy struggles with reading and I tried all different kinds of books for him to read but he liked none of them. To my surprise, he loves this series so much that he could spend hours in reading, which he had never done so before. He got so excited with this series and keeps asking me if the new book has been released.

This is not a comic book and it has decent amount of contents to read. On the other hand, the illustrations are perfect to keep my son not losing his interest. I would highly recommend this series!

Poor quality printing

The story is fine but pages of our copy were so lightly printed they were barely readable. Poor quality printing. By the time we discovered the printing issues, it was past possible return.

Fun for all ages!

I'm 38 years old and love games like Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Monster Madness, I grew up reading The Far Side and have developed a very quirky and morbid sense of humor, so this series is right up my alley.
One of the things that impresses me the most about Max's writing is, despite these being for kids, Max doesn't shy away from exploring the more mature and heavier aspects of kids living through a monster-zombie apocalypse. The characters react the way 13 year olds would to losing their families, friends and neighbors while literally fighting for mere survival - they cope the best they can with video games, junk food and daredevil stunts but they also clearly are dealing with serious emotional and mental traumas that manifest believably for each character.
The characters are so developed and well written that even adults like myself can find hours of enjoyment in these books.
