Paul Wilson's Repairman Jack is a cultural icon. If you haven't crossed paths with him you're out of the loop. Get with the program." --David Morrell, creator of Rambo. --This text refers to the hardcover edition.

Features & Highlights

  • Jack is back.
  • Wilson never said he was through with Repairman Jack. He said he was through turning in a new novel every year. He also said when a story came along that was right for Jack, he’d write it.
  • The Last Christmas is that story.
  • It’s late December between
  • Ground Zero
  • and
  • Fatal Error
  • , a winter of discontent for Jack who’s perhaps spending too much time hanging at Julio’s. An old contact, Edward Burkes, convinces him to take on a missing-person fix. As usual, nothing is as it seems, and the missing person isn’t exactly a person. In fact, it’s like nothing anyone has ever seen.
  • And in the middle of all this, the mysterious Madame de Medici hires him to safeguard a valuable object. Simple, right?
  • Not even close.
  • Yep, Jack is back and, as usual, weird trouble is on his heels.

Jack's back just in time for the last Christmas - no Spoilers

It's been 5 long years since we we last saw Jack, in a 3 book prequel coda to the main Repairman Jack sequence that ended everything with the rewrite of NIGHTWORLD. And just in time for a real Christmas treat, F.P. Wilson has released a new RJ novel that is sandwiched chronologically between GROUND ZERO and FATAL ERROR. Keeping his promises that there would be no more Jack after NIGHTWORLD, but also that he was not saying goodbye forever to what is inarguably his most famous and beloved character, Wilson comes up with a new tale that will delight all of his fans.

The gang's all here, and not just as Christmas ornaments. Abe, Glaeken, the Lady, Gia, Vicky plus a couple of guest stars and reference to the ICE SEQUENCE. They all play an important role (I was dubious at first how FP was going to pull that off but he did, of course), and so does the timing of this adventure. "'Tis the season". This time Jack has not one but two independent fixes going at the same time, and of course, neither is what it seems, no goes as expected. There is more of the secret history, quite a bit actually, and this novel proves that there is little doubt if the muse strikes FP, we may well see Jack back in action once more.

In any event, this is a really good one and a great Christmas gift to all FP Wilson/RJ fans. Happy reading and Happy holidays to all.

Highly Recommended.

He's Back!

Jack is back and he's kicking but like he'd never left. I was really nervous about picking up a new book after all this time, but I was not surprised. As usual, F. Paul Wilson delivers a well-written, fast-paced, and highly-engaging book. Lots of the standard Jack escapades. The only difficulty that I had with the entire story was trying to remember all of the characters and the general timeframe that the story took place. It would have been useful to go back to some of the other Repairman Jack books and skimmed through them just to figure those things out.

This was a great book and I hope that FPW decides that Jack deserves more stories.

Last fix before Christmas

It was so wonderful to see Jack again and also sad about the future changes that will be coming. So enjoyed the fix he did for Madam Medici and helping a young widow and her daughter. Always enjoy a little positive with the negative

Wilson with another winner

I am a huge fan of the Repairman Jack collection and this didn't disappoint. Such great characters build this epic story that should not be missed. Even if you need to start at the beginning of Repairman Jack, it'll be well worth it

Everything I'm looking for in a RJ novel

Jack on a crusade, interesting, memorable, characters, mystery, weird science and magic. A good addition to the saga. FPW not losing his touch.

Another fantastic story of Repairman Jack!

This book continues the story of Jack as the next “heir”, which seems to be just around the corner! Many references to earlier characters and events help to weave a tale approaching a final conflict!

Nothing Stellar

There really is nothing stellar about this book. I'm a little disappointed, as I saw very little that could advance the plot by any great degree. Sure we know more about Madame de Medici, and there's an additional character by the name of Tier that has been added and sounds interesting, but will they have anything to do with the few books left? If not then I see very little value that this book can provide. I'm almost to the end of the series, so we'll see. Even if it does add something of minimal significance, I don't think it's enough to merit anything over three stars.

La Belle Sans Mercy.

La Belle Sans Mercy is Serm! Wow! Great twist. Can't wait for next book. She is a great myth. Should do a series on her.

It has been a while since I had read a repairman Jack book. I thought the series was finished and the revised Nightfall was one of the weaker Jack novels. I've read them all and bought this when it came out amd although it took me a while to begin, it only took me a few days to finish.

It was a fun ride, I love Repairman Jack and F. Paul Wilson. Maybe the break from writing Jack stories was good for Mr. Wilson because I feel like the character has been reinvigorated.
