Decent book, but mostly common sense, few new ideas, not a lot of depth

From all the rapturous reviews I was expecting a little bit more. The essential message of this book -- be honest (even if it hurts) in real estate -- is great. Nowadays, clients know too much from the internet to try to pull the wool over their eyes.

However, I felt this book fell short in the nuts and bolts department. It calls itself a training guide for the first year, but there was not a lot of specific details/plans/paths on what to do. He speaks generally about how to do a lot of different things: find a mentor, marketing, presentations, working with buyers, etc. But I felt the actual breakdown of what/when/how to do these things was missing.

There are close to 30 chapters in this book, and the vast majority are under 5 pages, which should tell you a lot. He tackles a wide swath of topics, but without great detail. Most of it is common sense: be honest, work hard, believe in yourself, don't give up.

I think it could be a really good book upon it's second edition, if he takes the time to really flesh out his chapters with specific game plans to really boost your first year is real estate.

Honest Real Estate Agent is a Must Read for Any Real Estate Agent

I had listened to Mario's podcasts and have been considering whether real estate would be a good option for me or not. I started to read the book and after a few chapters I emailed Mario with a question. He very promptly got back to me and really answered the questions about my main concerns. Mario is very down to earth and you can tell when speaking to him that he knows what he is talking about. It was very refreshing reading a real estate book that wasn't all about pushy selling. I appreciate the way Mario has built his real estate career and I feel any agent could learn a lot from this book.

I'm honest so The Honest Real Estate Agent caught my attention!!!

So far so good I haven't read too much of the book only up to chapter 3. I don't have my license but I'm thinking about pursuing a career in this field so I thought this book would be great for me to read before doing so. I like the way the author laid it out and is honest about the ins and outs of Real Estate. Look forward to reading it and starting my career in R.E.

Valuable Resource!

I would highly recommend this book to anyone beginning in real estate or looking to refocus the way they do business as a real estate agent. Mario delivers real advice and techniques in this book. A lot of other books offer too much fluff with little practical knowledge to apply to your daily career. This is not the case with Mario's book. He is offering valuable information here. High praise for this book as well as Mario's podcast, where he also delivers excellent content and countless interviews with agents across the country, all for free! His podcast has the same name as his book so it's easy to find. Keep up the great work Mario!

Great book for New RE Agents

This is an Excellent work by an Obviously very experienced person in his field. Many of the points he makes carry over to many other business's from the customer service and 'sales' side. I highly recommend this book to anyone thinking about getting into the RE business. I purchase this book and a couple of others specifically for this reason. It helped me to avoid some missteps I would have taken if I had not had this information before hand. I have to say that Real Estate can be a bit of a mine field to get into and there are lots of sharks and wolves out there ready to feed on you if you don't come in armed with some kind of knowledge before hand. Mario definitely loads your guns with the ammunition you need to defend your piece of Real Estate Sales Turf.

Very surface level and sort of obvious.

The author does not make the book very interesting to read at all. I did get something out of the book, but it really wasn't worth the read because all of the information can easily be found elsewhere.

A successful real estate agent cuts through some of the nonsense

Similar to some other readers, I am thinking about making a career change. One of the things that caught my eye about this book besides the title itself is the author also came to real estate after a similar career. After reading this book I will look into real estate further...some of my doubts about the 'fit' of the career were laid to rest while reading Mr. Jannatpour's book. I want to focus on the service I can provide, I want my career to put my values first (such as honesty and treating others with respect) similar to Mr. Jannatpour. Of course I want to make a living, I need to make a living...but I don't want to make money at the expense of my values or at the expense of my relationships. "The Honest Real Estate Agent" cuts through much of the nonsense that sometimes surrounds professional training in many professions.

One update - I originally read this book through kindle unlimited. Now that I have kindle unlimited again I went straight to this page to download the book and re-read it, I enjoyed it that much and I want to see what else I would learn the second time around...sadly, it's no longer available on that program. I did like it enough that I will probably go ahead and purchase it, though I must admit I'm disappointed it's not on kindle unlimited anymore...
