The Flower Year: A Coloring Book for Adults

What a lovely book with fantastic paper. I can not say enough about the quality of this little book. I love Leila Duly's amazing work. If you are on the fence about this one, I say buy it, you will love it. I also love that several of the pages can be done in one or two sittings.

This is the second coloring book I've owned by Leila Duly. First one was fabulous but it was a little intimidating to start coloring the pictures because they were more complicated and I knew I couldn't do it justice. The newest book isn't as large; 7 x 9, pages are not as thick but, still a nice quality of paper and it has a hard cover which makes it easy to color in; wherein you don't need a table to color on. I am really happy with the drawings since I am a gardener and the flowers she drew are pretty much like what you will find on seed packets.

I love the concept and format of this book. I If you like to color flowers just for the sake of coloring flower, it's a dream! In fact I've never encountered a botanical coloring book with quite this many pages. It covers every month of the year with an average of 7 illustrations per month. So that's 84 highly detailed illustrations.. This is a coloring book you can intend to spend a year with, so it makes sense that it would be hard covered, and compact, for durability and ease of travel. It's almost like a keepsake, so I can see why the pages might not be perforated. In other words it is not exactly like Floribunda and that is okay. because there probably is not a rule that all of her books must be exactly the same, Leila's stellar botanical illustrations will work in a variety of formats as long as the paper is quality, and I actually much prefer the smooth texture of the paper in this book versus the heavy card stock. I'm having lots of fun with this book that it probably won't last me a year.

I so loved her previous book Floribunda that I waited with baited breath for this new one. What a disappointment! Amazon's photo shows a book of the same size and led me to believe it was more of the same. It is a much smaller book. The paper is different, the drawings are not nearly so intricate and, unlike the other book, not suitable for framing. The pages do not lie flat making it harder to color and the drawings go from one page across to the other leaving a bulky spine in the middle. DO NOT BUY THIS COLORING BOOK IF YOU ARE ANTICIPATING ANOTHER LIKE FLORIBUNDA. I won't be using this one.

I have the Floribunba coloring book which I love. So seeing this I thought great more beautiful pages to color and frame. Well its not! Its a 9x7 book with pictures on both sides, all drawings go into the seams and they don't even match up. No way to take out these for hanging, it will be hard enough to color all because of seams. Post card paper thickness. Where before there were names of the flowers on each page now you have to go to the index for the names. Where before you had sample flowers in color to look at there are none. It hasavacado green inner pages inside and same colore ribbon. Your coloring pages are beige thank goodness. Nice picture book but the worst for coloring , painting, etc. On line its shown the same size as Floribunda but its no where near it

A Beautifully bound coloring book .... To the point of when You finish It .... It's Worthy of being Passed down so Future generations can Appreciate Your Talent .... In Fact that's what i'm intending to Do .... One of My Sons said He would Love to have pictures/coloring pages .... This is Perfect .... Beside's It being Well Bound; the pages are a rather thick paper (i'm still going to put printing paper behind It anyway .... At least, til i see if my pressure bleeds thru or not .... i'm Not expecting It to .... The pages are full of flowers for that month with individual said flowers 🌺

With the book being bound, You're Not going to be able to tear out the page to color (i like to do this) .... Some of the designs do run into the spine .... The Only reason for 4 stars is, as of yet, i've not started coloring in It (I'll do an update when i do start to ....it arrived early & packed with packing bubbles .... Long awaited book from Leila Duly, it's lovely as her Floribunda. This book is somewhat a bit of a challenge, I'm not sure a inexperienced colorist wouldn't get overwhelmed as I did last year with Floribunda. Now more advanced, I relish the book. Love researching the flowers and saving reference photos to provide reality. I've learned so much from doing the research too. Nice book for sure.

This book was a little smaller than I had thought it would be, but I love it. It's gorgeous in its detail and I love that at the end of the book the artist has listed the flowers on each page if she didn't label them in the drawing. It very much reminds me of the old botanical drawings in some ways, and I appreciate it. Just an all right beautifully done book.

The paper is thick and there is a sage green ribbon marker. It is one of my favorite coloring books.

But to many small details.

Just love full floral and foliage drawings for coloring! They are my absolute favorite. It took a long time searching but this is exactly what I have been looking for. High quality book in all regards too - the amazing drawings, the paper, the binding (lays very flat with a little pressure), the hard cover, and the index in the back of the book telling you the flowers incorporated into each drawing. This will probably be one that I get a second copy of!
