let me say that I enjoyed this story

First of all, let me say that I enjoyed this story. It was fast paced and interesting all the way to the end. My only complaint about it is the historical error at the beginning of Chapter 24. The date is 1837 and the author has characters meeting with Andrew Jackson and congratulating him on his winning of the presidency. Andrew Jackson was first elected in 1828, was inaugurated in March of 1829 and left office when Martin Van Buren was inaugurated in March of 1837. Some simple fact checking by either the author or his editor(s) would have noted this mistake. I know that this seems to be nitpicking, but if one is going to put characters into real life situations, then one should at the very least get the dates right.

Will Humans Make the Right Choice With A Valuable Gift?

I just happened to pick up this book based on the cover. It was a lucky find. The story works under the premise as to the legend of the Fountain of Youth being true. A small group of conquistadors learned of it, led by Simon. They use their supply of the magical waters to survive through the centuries and to build a financial empire and try to shape the world. They are running out of their magic water and approach David, a young scientist, to try to duplicate the water. David reluctantly agrees to work for them in the hope of bettering the world.

David does not realize that Simon's group is at war with the mysterious Shako. Shako is a survivor of the original guardians of the water and wants revenge on Simon and his group for what he did to her people. This book never gets boring and constantly raises the question as to what is the best course for humanity. Is it to let people live as virtual immortals, until the natural resources run out or is it to just give people better lives during their normal life span?

I was able to finish this book in a few sittings and thought it was very well done. I give it a full five stars.

Great Novel!

I ordered this book after reading the theme & plot of the story. I am really enjoying reading it so far. Not quite the plot I expected with the corruption, backstabbing, fighting for survival and so much more. Christopher Farnsworth has done a marvelous job writing this story. As soon as I opened it to read the opening chapter, I found myself unable to put it down. I read the 1st three chapters on the first day. I was so glued and intrigued to the story and all the characters but the main character I truly found myself fascinated with was Simon Oliver himself because I could tell he was really truly the bad guy or an evil mastermind as I thought he was gonna he at first. He had a conscious and often I sensed he was trying to juggle everything from staying young and practically immortal to doing what he thought was right. Anyways, I give this book a high 5 stars!!!!
