I am a bit confused... I am ...
I am a bit confused... I am educating myself on GERD as of recent and just recd the book. I see recipes w/ heavy cream, soy sauce, mini marshmallows maple syrup, low fat ice cream etc. Aren't these things one w reflux should stay away from? (My doctor advised cutting our dairy and sugar). Feedback greatly appreciated! thanks

I just wasted my money
I just wasted my money. Does anyone really need a recipe for scrambled eggs? Rice pilaf? Chicken noodle soup? There's nothing appealing or innovative about any of the recipes. You can come with more creative recipes yourself. I made the butterscotch pudding and it was horrible. It's loaded with cornstarch and tastes like cornstarch and not much else. It also had a weird texture. Ugh! Don't waste your money, skip it!
I made the mistake of buying two of her books. The other one is even worse.

Misleading book title
The contents don't match the title. It is supposed to be a cook book of easy GERD-friendly recipes but a large number of the recipes are just regular food. The introduction gives helpful information on GERD. It seems the author tried to make the cookbook for people with combination situations - GERD plus Paleo, low carb, vegetarian, etc. And every recipe is well-marked for which of the eating protocols it fits. But considering that so many of the recipes are not for GERD, this would be better as a second book in one's quest for GERD friendly cooking, not primary.

Confused with recipes when some obviously irritate those with GERD
I was excited to read and start using the recipes in this cookbook, however, it was a bit confusing. The author uses sugar (and often times a significant amount) in some of the recipes and sugar is clearly on the top of the list for causing inflammation. Another item listed in many recipes was cinnamon. Another offender.
The book IS well ordered, has a lot of helpful information but is limited with the number of alkaline recipes to help those who suffer from GERD. It also has recipes for gluten free, vegetarian etc but many of the recipes are NOT listed as "alkaline". Disappointing!!. Finally, many of the recipes (but NOT ALL) list the category that the recipe belongs to (alkaline, gluten free, vegetarian etc). This is a huge help, although as said previously, I purchased the book as an Acid Reflux cookbook but a good number of recipes are not for those with GERD

Recipes look very tasty in The Easy Acid Reflux Cookbook with very good advice in the beginning of the book
Very well written pages before the recipes start. Lots of the recipes look very good and I will try them. I suffer from GERD and IBS and I like that she lists at the top of the page if these recipes are LOW FODMAP, Paleo, Gluten free, Alkaline, Low Carb, Vegetarian, or Vegan. The only drawback to this book is that she should have listed in the Index pages where to find those particular types of diets. I have to go through all the pages and write down all LOW FODMAP recipes for when I have episodes of gastroesophageal reflux (GERD). She has a nice list of things to have on hand in your pantry to make these recipes which I like a lot. I will start an elimination trial to see which foods are irritating my stomach first so that I can make more than the Low Fodmap recipes and Alkaline recipes. All in all, this book is worth whatever I paid for it.

It helps me cook foods good for me
I really use this book, to help me know what I should be eating and not be eating. It helps me cook foods good for me. I did not want to take the medicines prescribed for me, as they cause other problems. By using this book I can keep my eating to a standard that helps me.

One Criticism
Recipes are easy to prepare and so far of the five recipes I've tried only one was a disappointment; could be just personal preferences on my part. The only criticism I have is the reference in ingredient lists to other recipes, for example one that I tried called for mushroom gravy and it said to see a page #, when I went to the recipe for mushroom gravy the ingredient list called for mushroom broth and once more it said to see a page #. So to make one "simple" dish I had to use three recipes? None of them were in the least difficult but it was something to watch for when you are compiling a shopping list.

You can still enjoy food with GERD
I love that Karen Frazier provides lists of food to avoid, eat in moderation, and pantry lists. This book is very well written and provides insight in to the nutrition and health needs of a person struggling with GERD. As a person with GERD, I look forward to trying these recipes and adapting the eating habits mentioned by Ms. Frazier.
I received a free copy of this book in order to provide a review.

Great book!
In the introduction, the author goes into why she wrote this book as well as how to manage the illness. There is a lot of great information, recipes, and charts that show you what to avoid, eat with caution and eat with gusto. If you or someone you know has GERD, LPR, or just a mild case of Acid Reflux, even if you don’t, but want some easy recipes to cut some of the unhealthy foods from your diet, I would recommend this book. This book would make a great addition to any collection.

This isn't about GERD
UGH. I should have read the reviews. The first two chapters are about POCS, NOT GERD or LPR. It's confusing that so much emphasis is on POCS when you read the first few chapters, but the cover says NOTHING about POCS, but rather about GERD/LPR (which is why I needed this book). I can't speak to the recipes, but certainly cheesed off that the advert on this is so far off. Seems like it was originally written for one audience then they just slapped another cover on it for another audience.
